Santorum or Gingrich?
Vanity | Vanity

Posted on 01/04/2012 5:41:44 AM PST by wolfman23601

Ok, my guy Perry is out so make your pitch (without copy/pastes and spam) for Gingrich or Santorum.

I like Gingrich's intellect and he has a pretty good record, but I am having trouble trusting him as he seems to lack the spine under pressure.

I like Santorum's traditional conservative values and record on domestic policy, but he sounds too much like a neoconservative with his foreign policy and I am frankly finished with nation building (I mean this in the true sense of the word "neoconservative" and not as a Paulbot style attack).

I can rule out Romney and Paul for obvious reasons.

Definitely Santorum as he believes climate change is junk science just like Perry. If Perry is indeed out, I will be behind Santorum.

South Carolina won’t matter nearly as much in the general election as PA and OH. Santorum can win in both. I’m not so sure about Gingrich (which is the nice way of saying he would probably lose big in both).

I have my issues with Santorum, but I have fewer with him than with Gingrich. Santorum speaks well on the fly, but not as well as Gingrich. Gingrich needs to be a fast talker because he’s taken a lot of bad positions. I don’t mind folks who make mistakes and learn from them. In fact, I think they are the most reliable and best spoken. I’m just not convinced Gingrich is one of those folks.

Santorum has far less exploitable baggage than Gingrich, and wouldn’t have to play defense throughout the general election.

Trust.

Gingrich blinked when Clinton called his bluff on shutting down the government. No guts, no glory.

Global Warming enthusiast with Pelosi. Lack of common sense on this issue.

Newt is smart and I like to hear him tear down the liberal media, but I just don't have a feeling of trust when I consider him. Of course, I trust him 1000% more than Romney.

Pickings are getting slim.

PLUS GINGRICH BALANCED THE FEDERAL BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!

I am NOT anti-Santorum. I am totally anti-Romney

But Ginrich will kill again in the coming debates, and the other candidates should take notice. He does NOT pull punches with Obama OR the media, and that alone is what propelled him to the top.

Re: Santorum on birth control

Just as vegetarians advocate against eating meat,
Santorum advocates against birth control but does advocate outlawing it.

Don’t be a simpleton.

Why does everyone call Romney a Liberal DEmocrat? He isn’t the only one. How has Newt been any different? I agree that Romney is a moderate/Liberal, but Newt has taken MANY Liberal positions as of late. I am not sure that he is much different.

The other irony is that too many on here say that Santorum is too Conservative on life issues to win, but then bash Romney. Freepers are all over the place here. I choose Santorum...he is the only viable Conservative left.

Governors are always preferable to members of congress but I’d prefer a House member over a senator any day.

Well that could be true but we are going to have a Senator to vote for this round. Perry and Bachmann are dropping out today. Huntsman and Romney are the Governors and not conservative. Paul and Gingrich are Congressman who are to hot headed for the Presidency. So that leaves Senator Santorum. So it will be Senator Santorum vs. Senator Obama.

Neither one is my first choice, but Newt gets my vote between the two.

Santorum's biggest problem is that he lacks charisma. He would be a disaster up against Obama. I'm afraid he would come across as Eddie Haskell.

I have a strong feeling it won't matter because I think the powers that be actually want Obama to win again. After all, he doles out our money to them and they haven't squeezed us dry yet.

Whether this nation thrives or falls depends upon 1 thing, and one thing only... God’s judgment or blessing.

If you look around at our culture today, it is extremely hard to make the case that this nation deserves to be blessed.
Obama’s rise to office is clear evidence that we are not on God’s good side right now.

I don’t really know where Newt stands with God.
Rick’s position is pretty clear.
If Rick can pull off the nomination, It will be strong evidence that this nation is on the mend.

I’m backing Newt. Santorum is a nice guy, but strikes me as weak. He’s also not thought alot about the job or about our Nation.

Newt has, and I learn from him each time he speaks. I didn’t hear his speech last night, and hope it was not the “blame game”.

Newt is cast as an anti establishment guy, and that means he’ll draw in people from all sides. He will go to the minority neighborhoods to campaign. He will debate anyone.

Santorum is too polite, and too weak to be top guy. Sorry.

Yes but the hatred between Romney and Gingrich will be ugly and Santorum will talk about the future while those two talk about the past.

Let’s see a few more primaries and debates to see if Santorum grows. He has the credentials but needs to show he can get aggressive and be a formidable foe to Obama.

We’ll see. I prefer Gingrich but could easily vote for Santorum. I will not vote for Romney.

Could live with either, but my preference is Gingrich. I’m afraid Santorum doesnt have the spine and will be weak on limiting government. Newt has the spine and know how to take on the establishment, hopefully he has the will....

It will be interesting to see how the Perry, Bachman, and Huntsman voters break. If they go for Gingrich, this is going to be very interesting. I seriously doubt great numbers of them will break for Romney.

lol. You are so funny. Of course it was. He was pissed off and blamed everybody but himself. It was the worst speech of the night.

I don't like that Santorum took about $100,000 from the PA school district to homeschool his kids who lived in VA...Santorum was sued by the district to return the money.

Santorum was a big spending senator...loved earmarks and helped put the country in the financial mess we're in.

Where does Santorum stand on immigration?
