That Howard’s “shows” even get on the public airwaves should consternate every observer who has read that British classic “The Decline and Fall of the American Empire” ... We are going through Rome’s pattern of bread and circuses for the masses, sexual depravity, excesses, and pop “culture”.

Even the US military now is used as a path to citizenship by the democrats - just like the Romans used citizenship and gold to man their ranks with barbarians to fight the Germans.

Panem. I thought that was cool.

I was explaining Yiddish to my daughter the other day. “There are a lot of common words we borrow from Yiddish. Most of them are words for ‘penis’ or ‘butthole.’”

The Italian word for “little worms” is “vermicelli.”

Now, eat your dinner. ;-)

You got “shpilkis” exactly correct: ants in the pants. As in, “My brother-in-law has shpilkis. He can’t sit still for five minutes.”

We all know what is going to happen. Nearly every conservative—even conservative independents like me—will vote for whoever the Republicans put up against obama.

However, I am right to be consternated by the banksters having taken over the Republican nominating process, to swing it to the bankster candidate Romney. That is because I know that the banksters’ REAL favorite is obama himself, and Romney may well be deliberately chosen as one who can be easily beaten by obama in the general election.

I dance alone in the kitchen a lot, so I’ll come to the party-it is a drizzly, gray cold day and I welcome the company-I’m apparently alone with my thoughts on the road today, or so it seems-not a human sound or movement-just the wind and birds. When I was up in the woods this morning, I actually heard a big blue heron fly out of the brush on the shore before I saw it, and even heard the deers’ hooves on the rocks. When it is deserted like this in winter, I think I would like living in the wilds of Montana, Wyoming, Alaska...

The account of the Halloween party
Thrown by the Obamas consternated-
Not only did it waste our money
But it also further segregated

All of us little ordinary people
Struggling to make ends meet
From their noble Hollywood guests
And the Washington ‘rat elite

And that tell-all book’s author
Knew just exactly how to find
The bits that would best sharpen
The axe that she has to grind

“The Romans used citizenship and gold to man their ranks with barbarians to fight the Germans.”

Yeah, and we all know how long that worked out well, don’t we? As a lifetime avid studier of the Roman Empire, I’m endlessly amazed at how our own actions mirror those of Rome, and not in a good way...

You got “shpilkis” exactly correct: shants in the pants. As in, “My brother-in-law has shpilkis. He can’t sit still for five minutes.”

Ain't that supposed to be “My brother-in-law had shitpilkis. Yep, he had to sit very still every five minutes on the toilet this passed weekend until it finally cleared up.”

i can't recall exactly where it was in the book, and if it was Haymitch or someone else, discussing a civilization from several thousand years ago where the language was called Latin and they used Panem et circenses, to keep the people appeased. I know it was towards the end somewhere.

That literally took me back 30 years or so. I laughed out loud when i saw the word bc i haven’t had occasion to see/hear it in forever. It was fun to travel back in time and remember the friend who introduced me to the word. I haven’t seen or heard from him in decades either, i think he’s practicing in FL somewhere.
