Scott Brown’s vote shocks GOP comrades

Here in the nation’s capital and in the Bay State, some folks are perplexed by the curious case of Sen. Scott Brown and his decision to back President Obama’s controversial recess appointment last week — a move that irked his Republican comrades and placed him squarely on the side of his likely Democratic challenger.

Over the past year, the White House and congressional Republicans have engaged in an epic battle over the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a watchdog agency created by the Dodd-Frank Act and built from the ground up by Elizabeth Warren.

Republicans hate the bureau, saying it’s too powerful and its authority is too centralized.

GOP senators vowed to block the confirmation of any director until the whole agency was revamped.

That didn’t placate the GOP. They joined to filibuster Cordray. Brown’s was the sole Republican vote in Cordray’s favor. This wasn’t the puzzling part. Brown had long expressed support for the agency, saying it was needed to protect consumers.

Brown is playing the “where are the republicans going to go” game. He knows we will not vote for Warren. What he doesn’t know is that we will not vote for him. We will let him lose.

I will shed no tears if Brown is defeated. Like Specter and his ilk before him, he waters down the republican caucus and is a reliable vote not for the republicans, but for the democrats.

This is the perfect situation for Newt and Santorum in SC. Equate Scott Brown’s dismal record with Romney, and make it clear to the conservative base what a Romney presidency means in policy. Scott Brown was Romney’s ‘guy’ in the MA state house. They see eye to eye. Brown has been a pure disaster as Senator despite running on our platform in the special election. They both lie on the campaign trail.

And this consumer protector will have the exact opposite effect.

The bill will kill business and hurt consumers, which is of course, the Obama plan.

But Scott Brown is not bright enough to see that. He should go away and maybe pose as a centerfold for Senior Living.

I am from NY and supported Scott Brown financially when he ran. I believe he deserves to lose to Elizabeth Warren. She is a perfect fit for Massachusetts and he is RINO with no bb’s.

Zero is also using this agency as a campaign tool, setting up a website for people to complain about credit card company practices. Who has had trouble with a credit card? Everyone. But here is Our Savior Obama to help us out. This is why he had to get Cordray in there and get the whole thing rolling.

It is wrong to create unrealistic expectations and any thinking person knew what kind of senator Brown would be. There are no surprises here. The truth remains, we are still better off with Brown than a Kennedy RAT.

I, too, sent Brown some money when he first ran but I did it with my eyes wide open. I expected this kind of inconsistency BUT it didn't change the fact, he's still an R and counts toward a majority and he did vote against Obamacare.

A half if better than a zero. Until Brown can be replaced by a more conservative Republican, keep Brown there.
