I just found the list of tutorials. There is also a listing of search engines there. I prefer Ixquick Metasearch.
You might want to check out this description of a listing of the top 100 alternative websites.

I use GoodSearch.com
It has never failed me.
The great thing about it is that when you first log on to do a search, they ask you for your favorite charity. They will donate a few pennies to this charity every time you use them.
Of course, my “charity” is Second Amendment Sisters. Our organization has gotten one check from them so far—but it was for more than $100.
I LOVE yubnub.org...and I just discovered https://ixquick.com/ .
There are already a number of good suggestions on this thread and I thought the PING list would both be able to use what is already here and contribute. Enjoy!

Nowadays, I do a lot of book reading. I was just in the library today and got a book on Eisenhower and another book on railroads during the 1800s. I'm thinking about getting a Kindle and just dumping a bunch of books onto it so I can go ahead and get them read.
Good luck with that.
All the search engines seem to use variations of Google's link-ranking algorithm (if they don't simply steal their results from Google) and, thus, are vulnerable to SEO games. E.g., I just looked up santorum on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, and DogPile, and they all exhibit the poor senator's long-standing google problem
. Actually, it's so bad now, that if you simply google for google problem
, Santorum is all over the SERP.
BTW, the Wikipedia has a lengthy search engine list.
BING!

Thank God for creative destruction.
DuckDuckGo is GREAT. Private, does not “bubble” you, has secure (https) features (so your ISP does not know what you search for either).

Many great features. I love it. The results are also very good. I rarely have to resort to other engines to find what I want.
