Tebow leaves feeling good

FOXBORO — Not that’s there any way to quantify this, but the betting here is that the same people who were crowing last week about how there’s no such thing as divine intervention in pro sports were pointing at the flat screen last night and saying, “Hey, Tebow, where’s your divine intervention now?”

But before continuing, let’s be clear:

I tend to agree with you.

God doesn't do for us what we should do for ourselves.

That's why I love Ambrose Bierce's Cynic's Dictionary of prayer:

"To ask that the laws of the universe be annulled in behalf of a single petitioner confessedly unworthy."God loves us and does us good, but he doesn't intervene in every aspect of our lives or in every detail . . . that would be a contradiction to his gift of free will. What he does is give us the ability to do for ourselves . . . we still have to do the footwork.

Last week I was a hater and an Obama fan because I was rooting for the Steelers.

Scary, isn't it? Like being a racist if you don't vote for Obama lol.

I dont understand the Tebow hate. Can anyone deny that he is a good human being?

I have no idea whether he's a good human being. He certainly puts on a good show of being one.

This story is amazing and speaks volumes of our cultural state in America. Some people do not like Tebow strictly because of his religious tone and his humble manner.

A religion which is mocked daily by ignorant arrogance and precisely because it's tenets promote GOOD moral values which holds people ACCOUNTABLE.

With the exception of this year, Rivers hasn’t been a choker. The Chargers have a matador defense and Rivers always answered the bell when called. The defense and Nate Kaeding are the choke artists on the Chargers.

As for Flutie, at least on the Chargers, he did manage to bring the Chargers - a crappy team, with an even crappier quarterback (Ryan Leaf) a few wins after a 1 -15 season. He also filled in when Drew Brees couldn’t get it done early in his career. He was a QB with not great skills who is true leader and got the best out of the team around him.

“I think Tebow can handle it.”

Yes, because Tim certainly looks to be a young man with a good foundation. Strong core beliefs and his priorities well in line.

Thank you BB for the post. I was pleasantly surprised to read a straight forward assessment of the game, and more, of the author’s thoughtful admiration of Tim.

And thank you Lord, for Tim Tebow. For the joy he shares, for his inspiration, and for bringing God back into the discussion in this country.

May God guide our course.

Personally, I feel God was in charge of those wins. The three 316 references were too much for coincidence. But they why didn’t he win last night? Maybe because God knows it’s never enough with us. If Tebow had won last night it would have all been riding on the playoffs, then the Superbowl, and even if he went all the way, people would have their knives out for next season.

But I believe God used Tim. Everyone knows who Tim Tebow is now even non-sports types. I think he’s been put out there as an example, one I’m grateful for in these wicked times.

I’m glad the Broncos lost to the Pats and not the Steelers. The Steelers are the official team of the Obama admin and the media’s favorite AFC squad. I respect the Pats and Brady and will be rooting for them next week if the Ravens win today.

Why hate the guy, regardless of your religion or what kind of QB you think he is.

%%
You answered your own question in the next sentence:
He does a lot of great things off the field and is a good
role model for any kid.

For some reason — jealousy? just plain evil? — some feel threatened by good, decent people.

For example, I am willing to bet that there is a bevy of harlots just waiting for an opportunity to entice this young man and ruin his reputation.

Roy Baty posts - “”God is watching, no doubt and His plan is unfolding but in the final analysis, He works through us and we need to take action.””

Amen. On His working through us, and on US needing to take action. Small, sheepish smile - more often than not when I am praying, it does occur to me that my prayer is not about making a to do list for God, but that it is a prompt for ME to do something...So I try to keep in the prayer, things that are truly beyond my power.

Take care ya’ll and may God bless and guide our course.

Indeed you were. No self-respecting conservative would ever root for the Steelers.

The more I think about it and the older I get, I've come to the conclusion that although there is unquestionably a God, He doesn't appear to be actively working in our lives.

I'm the exact opposite. I've seen God touch my life too often to think that He doesn't.

The Denver defense has been awesome. They were terrible last night, but Tebow wouldn’t have had a season to speak of if the Broncs’ D hadn’t played so well last week and in the regular season (and don’t forget about Prater).

They hate him because he is good. Understand this when someone is authentically good, humble and of considerable talent, that intimidates those that feel self conscious that they aren’t. So like a bunch of Jr. High girls they have to drive out the person in their presence that magnifies their own feelings of inadequacy and failure. It is like a shiny gold nail amount a board of rusty bent ones. When they are all rusty nails than they are all the lowest common denominator. When the Gold nail is presence it is easier to pull out or tarnish the golden nail than to admire or improve yourself. THAT is the nature of man’s character.

Anybody who is a threat to atheistic communism must be destroyed. How many times do you have to see it?

Does that include Rush Limbaugh? What team should I root for as a self respecting conservative?

“I’m a little disappointed we weren’t able to win tonight. We played a great team and they played well and you have to give them a lot of credit. Still, it wasn’t a bad day. It still was a good day because before the game I got to spend some time with Zach McLeod and make him smile, and when you get to do that it’s still a positive day and it’s still a good day.

He's a mature young man, what a fine thing to say.

I recorded it and watched it late, turned it off at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but saved the recording, hoping he might say something classy and shut up his critics once again.

He obviously did. He may not be on my recording, but thanks for posting. The kid is one class act.
