Motorkote Engine Lubricant (Sounds great. Anyone heard of it?)

Listening to Midnight Trucking Radio just now, and they have a guy on talking about an engine lubricant product called Motorkote. He talked it up so well, that I got curious and went to their website to have a look.

I read through the testimonials for the product on their site, and I've gotta say, this stuff sounds terrific. Truckers and normal auto owners say all sorts of great things about the stuff.

Anyone using this stuff, or have you ever heard of it?

Remember that "on the Internet, no one knows you are a dog." Are those testimonials from actual customers or from the marketing department? Also, remember when you could tell the difference between a commercial and a talk radio show's show content? Not so much anymore with hosts blending commercials right into their show banter. For me, when I can't tell the difference between opinion and compensated commercial speech, I discount it all. To the hosts, I'd say it weakens their brand. Then there's the full-on infomercial.

Stay frosty skeptical, my FRiend.

Have you had a problem with regular motor oil? I change mine every 5,000 miles, so I haven’t. I like the old saying”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” it’s generally a lot cheaper in the long run.

Also, don’t pay any attention to testimonials from people you don’t know.

"my '98 Chevy Silverado is at 177K, and though she's been one helluva work horse, I want to do something to extend her lifespan."

I'd give her another 25 K miles or so, just to get her worn in properly, then you should start changing the oil a little more often. Maybe you should start changing the oil every 5000 miles or so, instead of every 6000 miles.

Molybdenum Di-sulfide in Slick 50 is used to coat bearings, pistons etc. in racing engines.

The new hot coating is Tungsten Di-Sulfide via NASA via Stanford U.

It is not in Oil, but as a racing engine coating. They claim some marvelous advantages as well as racing trophies to go with it..

Go here for one of the prime appliers with a patented process...http://www.microblueracing.com/

The question begs, who will be the 1st to add Tungsten Di-Sulfide to Oil as a treatment and will it work or be snake oil?
