The attacks by both Drudge and Beck on Newt are about as vicious as I've ever seen by either of them even on Obama. I turned off Beck some time ago due to his extreme doomer act and I'm starting to get to the point where I avoid Drudge as well. I understand that they might not be Newt fans but the force of their hatred toward him is stunning.
Beck has never been for Bachmann or Santorum. He has always been for Romney, but tries to hide that fact by saying favorable things about candidates who are no threat to Romney.

You are correct, but equally important is the fact that Romney, Drudge and Beck are all Morons, er, I mean Mormons.
Mormons are tribal.
Mormons stick together.
Mormons support each other.
The success of their cult is dependent upon the success of the individuals that belong to their cult.
Mormonism first. Conservatism second. If conservatism conflicts with their cult, then f-ck conservatism.

I think Drudge just reports the news. Beck’s magic underwear is giving him a rash or something and its gone to his brain. He’s got this psycho fixation that Newt is a progressive satan.
Beck has gone off the deep end with seeing “progressivism” in every politician. He’s so far over the line he now sees no difference whatsoever between the Marxist Democrats and even the staunchest small government conservative Republicans. Look for him to take the third party plunge soon, if he hasn’t already. Even so, he did narrow down his list of Republican presidential candidates he would support. One by one he ticked down the list eliminating all but Romney, the one and only admitted progressive in the bunch. He says he doesn’t like Romney but admits he’s the only one he’d vote for. Have no idea why. /s
Hume is especially disgusting. At leat Ann was always a grenade thrower. But Hume has always been measured until now.
The worst part isn’t that Hume doesn’t like Newt - which is clearly the case. It’s that he can’t be objective enough to say ANYTHING positive about him or give him credit for anything, either in the campaign or in his past. Every Myth setback is a tactical error. Every Newt gain is an accident or destined-to-be-fleeting.
We all know there’s plenty to criticize about Newt. But any reasonable person can also see that for conservatives at least, there’s also lots to like. Hume sees none of it, and I’ve never heard him say a positive word about Newt.
Between him, Kraut, Coulter...you really wonder what’s going on.

Personally I cared that Clinton lied under oath and not one whit about where he put his Special Intern Cigars. I also hated that he was a lefty who appointed lefty judges.

Spot on. Face it, 98% of us on FR are going to be there in November voting for the Republican ticket, regardless of who it is - though few will admit it. And I expect Beck, Drudge, Rush, Medved, and any other pundit, that right now support another candidate besides Newt will be doing the same. This is the Primary, and all the candidate should pass our own personal set of standards. To fall blindly for the person who seems to have caught fire just because they have caught fire is no way to pick a candidate.
And I would bet that nearly every Freeper here who has now a man crush on Newt, could not stand the guy back in the spring of 2011 when he jumped in and his popularity here was next to nil.
DAMN I wish there was a way to get old replies....when I pull up posting history, I only get one page of replies and after that only posts I originate...
But I was here defending Newt pretty passionately even before he announced.

Maybe you should spend some time over on Newt’s website. He has answered the questions and he has laid out his plan. His plan is Reagan’s plan on steroids.
If you listen to beck he is abundantly clear. He does not like Progessives . It does not matter if their name is Obama or Gingrich. Nor do their party affiliation matter be it dem or repub. Both of these people are PROGRESSIVES.
Fool yourself if you like but newt has laid it out in his own words he is a big govt progressive, but he debates well, so he fooled you and many many others that only judge the man by the debates and not his words or actions.
