Students step over 'rivers of urine' after green bathrooms plan... and it will cost $500,000 to fix

Students at a high school in Boca Raton, Florida, must step over rivers of urine and endure the stench of rancid waste after a plan to bring 'green' waterless urinals into bathrooms backfired. School officials at Spanish River High School thought they had found an environmentally-friendly, cost-saving solution for their bathrooms when they installed Falcon Waterfree urinals in their boys bathrooms.

So, instead of “going green”, the school is “going yellow.”

Well, it was $100 per and not $100 total but your point is made. That's life on the bleeding peeing edge.

Wonderful, my son goes there!!

However, unlike so many of the kids I got him trained on the environmental whackos early in life and he now laughs at Al Gore’s name being mentioned! And now he gets to tell the smart-ass teachers “I told you so!”.

They could have done the same thing with a regular urinal and just not flushed it. Pretty much like most public restrooms.

What’s the problem? It’s only taxpayer dollars. It’s the thought that counts. It saves the earth. It’s paid for by a smaller carbon foot print. What other phrases will we hear....

I have a very efficient low flush toilet in my guest john that actually does flush and doesn’t clog. Unfortunately, it gets its efficiency by having a very small water spot (the pool of water in the bottom of the toilet that dilutes urine and covers fecal matter to reduce smell) that’s so small it doesn’t really dilute the urine at all and bubbles like a geyser when I flush the toilet. The upshot of this is I must close the toilet’s lid to avoid being splashed with urine when I flush the toilet and, since it never gets really flushed, it always smells of stale urine.

IOW, after we’ve spent centuries learning to improve our comfort and sanitation, the Watermelons are doing a great job, in under 30 years, of returning us to 17th century sanitation. Of course, they really want to return us to the seventh century, when their great hero Mohamed lived.

It never occurred to them that high school urinals always get cigarette butts thrown in them.

Once the green disease strikes, reason leaves the building.

The large corporation I used to work for was consumed by the green disease. There were vice presidents, committees, working groups, and a newsletter devoted to recycling and saving paper. They even took away our individual wastebaskets so we would think harder about waste.

There was no thought given to economic efficiency -- recycling was just something we should do (similar to tithing.) When I had the temerity to ask if the company was making money or losing money on this crusade, I was met with blank stares followed by angry recriminations. And this was in a profit-making corporation.

Just imagine what it's like in government.

Did you catch the complaint: 'The girls had to step over a river of urine. I could smell it as soon as I walked into the hallway.'

So, what did the guys do when they no longer had urinals that worked (that pipe thing resulted in a shut down).

People seem to have such a difficult time dealing with this failed idea.

It failed !!! It failed !!!.

The federal personal income tax also failed. The pipes are busted out.

Reminds me of that quote from Scotty in Star Trek 3: "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."
