Excerpt: Authorities on Thursday were searching southwestern Oregon's rugged forests for three missing mushroom pickers who disappeared almost five days ago. Belinda and Daniel Conne, both 47, and their 25-year-old son, Michael, were last seen Sunday at a campground, where they had left behind their camp trailer and two dogs, Curry County sheriff's office said. Deputies found their SUV off a logging road on the western edge of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest on Wednesday, and clothing and mushroom-picking gear were found some distance away.

Of more concern, according to an LEO friend of mine in the area, there is a lot of "growing" activity..
Wrong mushrooms?
If police found their picking gear, it doesn’t sound like they simply got lost.
The three were last seen a-pickin’ and a-grinnin’.
The mushroom picking has some money in it so it’s competitive. Some Asian groups don’t play well (or pick well as they have mistaken toadstools for Asian mushrooms and paid the price). Some Thai friends of ours have been threatened by competitors.
I don’t think there is much growing activity in February.
Maybe they’re lying under some tree tripping like all get out after having what they thought were butter-fried morels.
Remember the James Kim story? No place to go wandering around lost, especially in winter.
Anyone know if pot growers work grow operations outdoors in the winter in that area?
Tragic story, that. Definitely rugged country, and if one gets stuck in the snow (doesn’t appear to be the case here) then it is a long way out, and easy for some to get turned around.
Bigfoot???
Obviously.

Prohibitions offspring in action again.
Sounds like the Aliens may have gotten then. Or Big Michelle I mean Big Foot.

Bush’s fault.
The bug-eyed Fed Ex guy.
There have been killings over picking “Salal” (SP?) out near Forks, WA. Wild greenery that florists add to their arrangements. Same thing - good money and real competitive. I do wonder about the time of year for mushrooms. The ones in my yard came and went awhile ago.
They left their dogs in camp while they went traipsing through the woods? Somehow, that doesn’t sound right.
