We all want to survive, but only a remnant will flow into the Millenium without experiencing physical death, IMHO.

Still, prepping is a natural extension of what we do every summer and fall to ensure survival for our livestock every winter.

In old Europe, that extended to our families as well. If you don’t prepare in a timely manner, you will die! It’s ingrained in our Western ethos.

Amazing what a few generations removed from the soil will do to a culture.

For some. I grew up on a farm. My family has owned/farmed land in this county since 1889. I was away for 25 years, but back 15. Ancestors farmed in other parts of TX before then, and in AL and GA before that. Not a "prepper' but have a garden, we have grain storage and processing equipment. We have our own meat processing building at the farm. We could be self sufficient if we wanted to. At this point it makes no sense. I greatly expanded our orchard and planted strawberry bed, blackberry bushes and grape vines last year during the height of the 100 year drought. Most survived because I watered them heavily.

We will get by. Have spent most of past 2 years taking care of sick elderly family. More of that ahead.

But on the political front, the very future of the nation and our way of life is in the results of the November 2012 election. I plan to be at the State GOP Convention. Past that??
