Anybody having a problem with ad.doubleclick redirecting to an error page. I was having this problem on Hotair and now it is on the Daily Caller. Ran spybot and malewarebytes to no avail. I can get to the home page but when I click on article it redirects to a error page saying internet explorer cannot display the webpage. Any ideas out there?

It could be just busy.
Early morning are busy times for these sites, because people are getting up and getting their morning news updates and such.
Are you running the free Malwarebytes or the purchased?
Examine \windows\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad or other text editor for spurious entries.

I’m sorry, but it’s the only answer if you want to live in peace with your computer and the Internet. I hate to have to keep repeating the obvious; its like the, “were you born in a barn?” question; if you haven’t figured it out by now, you’re beyond help. Windows just simply is ridiculously terrible to use if you are having trouble with viruses.

Although it didn't get into my PC, I've read up on it and some of the symptoms (early stage) is the inability to get to certain pages, etc.
Best to run any anti-spyware removal tool in slow mode...
I never have virus problems as a general rule. If it was a virus why wouldn’t it happen on every page or link where ad.doubeclick is present? It is only doing it on the daily caller links now. The website it is trying to redirect to is over a thousand characters long.
I have a series of freebies that have served me well.
1) Ad-ware by Lavasoft
2) Spybot - Search and Destroy (practically a must-have)
3) Malware Bytes - Free like yours, just make sure it’s up to date.
4) MSFT’s Internet Essentials
5) CCleaner by Pirisoft
Yup, I run this whole assortment; what one misses another will catch, usually. They are all free, and if I had to pick ONE it would be Spybot (because of it’s “Immunize” function to prevent future infections).
After doing much research online, I concluded that the purchase of Malwarebytes was the only solution and did so.
It did the trick.
That said, I would recommend that you do your own research just in case a new free product has emerged.

I’m afraid I can’t help, but I have made it a point for many years never to click on ad.doubleclick, because I think it’s a troublemaker in itself.
As I type this, Google is not responding for me, but Yahoooooooo and Bing are.
This may or may not be helpful, but when those separate-page as come up I close them using task manager. I touched one once and lived to regret it.
Not saying this will cure your problem, but it is well worth considering...

Go back to previous restore point and then plan on backing stuff up, wiping disk clean and do fresh start. The time it takes to track down these things is way too much. And your still not be sure they are completely gone or just hibernating till later.
Downloaded ad-aware it has picked up 2 items so far that malewarebytes or spybot didn’t. Fingers crossed.
Two thoughts for after you are able to clean up the infection.
1. You might consider moving to Firefox and run the NoScript plugin. A lot of these infections come through javascript code attached to malicious webpages or ads. NoScript stops any code from running instantly but allows you to whitelist trusted sites. It stops a lot of viruses from getting a foothold.

2. As a backup in case of a future infection, download a version of Linux and burn a live CD. Linux can run off a CD or DVD that bypasses the hard drive completely. You can also install it to a USB drive using the free PenDriveLinux windows software (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/).
If Windows fails to start or you get a virus that wrecks your system, you can boot into Linux and have a working browser so you can get online and fix the problem.
CCleaner by Pirisoft should fix it. Just run the cleaner and the Registry cleaner. Reboot and try again.
When you first go back online it may be a little slow for the first 5 minutes. After that it will get faster and faster.
