Floyd Mayweather questions Jeremy Lin (sounds like racism)
espn ^ | 2-15-12

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. believes that New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is getting national attention because of his race, rather than his exceptional play.

"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise," Mayweather wrote on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

"Its OK for ESPN to give their opinion but I say something and everyone questions Floyd Mayweather," the boxer tweeted. "I'm speaking my mind on behalf of other NBA players. They are programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up.

"Other countries get to support/cheer their athletes and everything is fine. As soon as I support Black American athletes, I get criticized."

Mayweather has drawn attention for racially insensitive remarks in the past. Mayweather went on a profanity-filled racist and homophobic rant against Manny Pacquiao in September 2010. In a video posted on UStream, Mayweather told Pacquiao, a Filipino, to "make some sushi rolls and cook some rice." He also said "we're going to cook him with some cats and dogs."

Sure, his being Asian is a big part of the story.

But he has had the best first five starts of any player ever, even better that Michael Jordan’s first five starts.

His being Asian is the primary reason why he wasn’t recruited or drafted.

Had he been black, his HS resume would have landed him a top-notch scholarship, and his play in college would have made him a lottery pick.

It cuts both ways.

Rigged and scripted? How do you rig a 3-pointer at the buzzer for a win?

Mayweather needs to realize the NBA is about as rigged/scripted as the WWE these days. I feel bad for people who pay to go to NBA games.

yep. I figured it out a long time ago when Kareem Abdul Jabaar's house burned down without insurance in 1983 and the Lakers took the series to the finals losing 4 straight to the 76'ers.

I'm sure somebody made a mint on the "sweep" and paid off some cash.

That's why it takes 20 minutes to play the last 2 minutes of a game. You gotta get the "over and under" and the point spread correct. Otherwise you'll lose money.

The NCAA tournament is all I watch of basketball and it' basically because these guys want to get in so badly that they actually try.

NFL football is getting to be the same way. Look at the PC er...New Orleans Saints win after Katrina.

Yeah- Floyd seems to have forgotten a golfer by the name of Tiger Woods that received incredible media attention when he started out, not only for his excellent skills but also, well- Care to admit it, Floyd?

Not to worry, Whites aren't part of the NBA Affirmative Action program due to their relatives all used to own slaves. ......

I've always said that a liberal wants his daughter/son to play pro sports.... a conservative wants his son/daughter to own the team and write the checks.

He'll just say that Tiger isn't really black.

you don't.. you rig the spread. nobody cares who "wins". find out the over and under and the spread.

Somebody basically explained the "no defense" phenomena earlier... he's asian... he figured it out.. bwahahahahahaha

Mayweather needs to get back to doing what he does best - making up lame excuses not to fight Pacquiao.

Actually, it's Manny that is ducking Floyd now.

All Mayweather asked for was Olympic style drug testing, and Manny refused. I've always suspected Pac-Man was doping. He went from being a good fighter to being a dominant fighter in no time flat.

I like Manny a heck of a lot better than Floyd, but I think Floyd would kick his butt. And I think Manny knows that.

Of course, Floyd's demand that he be the higher paid of the two is absurd. It should be a 50/50 purse split, period. In fact, Manny is a MUCH bigger global star. If anyone has claim to a bigger purse share, it's him.

It's a shame that this fight won't happen. Floyd is fighting someone else this spring, and then he's off to jail for six months.

Yeah! Lin should be an electrical engineer or oncologist like other Chinese, and leave basketball for black people!

New York Knicks vs. Toronto Raptors Point Spread - Pick Betting Odds: NY -3.5 / TOR +3.5 Over/Under Total: 189.5

http://www.predictem.com/forums/nba-point-spreads-picks/56135-new-york-knicks-vs-toronto-raptors-point-spread-pick.html

remember sports fan... the key is not only the spread but the over and under. pro sports is “entertainment”. Just like wrestling and the theater.

So the score is 90-87. The Knicks win.... oh my! but just under the spread...oh no!!! so the “public” is happy and so are the bookies.

The over and under is 189.5 and the total is 90+87=177... awww. So you bet the knicks to “win” and with Lin to “score”... well he does and dog gone it... you get him to score a lot a points but you still “lose”. bwahahahahaha

That’s what’s so funny. He’s such a “great story” that the money is going to pour in and bet the Lin “story”... cause that’s what it is, a story.

yawn. Now once upon a time there was this baseball team in 1919 that was soooooooooooo good called the Chicago White Sox. Now boys and girls we know what a beautiful and pure place Chicago is/was. Well these great players, played as hard as they could and ..................Cincinnati won..hahahaha

I’m sorry I didn’t clarify the “pressure” that Lin had.

none

If he made it, they win and he’s a hero. The bookies win cause the other two guys on the team that bumbled the first two attempts insured that no matter how it shook out that the knick would NOT cover the spread. Even with Lin playing awful defense the over and under was clamped down by the refs and maybe a couple of other players.

see , it’s easy to do if you have a couple of million to spend and refs and players with drug and women problems or “needs”. Remember back to the “isolated” NBA ref that was on the take. Man, that story disappeared quickly.

read “about the NBA” midway down this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Donaghy

thank God, that NFL refs, MLB umpires, and the rest of the NBA refs are pure.

No question about it ... the NFL wanted Green Bay in the SB again, but ...

Let’s face it, if the NFL really could determine the champion, the Cowboys would have won the last 20 Super Bowls.

Point Spread: NYG +3/NE -3
Over/Under Total: 55

No the NFL wanted another “super star” in a big market. Brady vs Eli. who is going to generate more betting?

You keep confusing “winning” with “winning”. It has nothing to do with which team,it has all to do with money.

Super Bowl final score NYG 21- NE-17. Over and under 55 with actual 38. Hmmmmmm so why was the public betting Brady over Eli in a “shootout”. But man there were some funky calls by the refs like the mystery holding calls, the no fumble-fumbles and on and on.... The G-men fought 12 guys on the field at times, but then again they did against the Packers as well.

what I’m loving is when the fix is in on both sides. That’s when it gets “exciting” to see who owns the kickers/holders/long snappers. hahahahaha. or the DB to fall down/hit the ball up into the receivers hands.

I enjoyed the company and the new superstar Eli Manning. Half-time was pretty good also, but the commercials were lame.

Let’s face it, if the NFL really could determine the champion, the Cowboys would have won the last 20 Super Bowls.

I wish... I wish... but Romo is too stupid and not clutch enough to do anything but muff a snap his first year.... throw interceptions at critical times.... sit out weeks on end after getting $65 million contract.... and work on something really important like his golf game.... hahahaha.

You know what's really funny is the running back for the Giants mucking it all up by going in for the touchdown. If he kneels then the score is 18-17 with the G-men winning but not covering the spread. But he goes in and then Brady miraculously almost makes the game winner after having trouble moving the ball the entire game.

so everybody that bet the G-men won. whoever bet the over lost. so it's a push unless you thought that the Pats had a great defense and would win in a low scoring game??? Or you thought the Gmen would win a low scoring close game. which is what they did.

I've got no dog in this. I'm a Cowboys fan. uggghh..

As I said on the Pebble Beach Tournament thread....playing with Romo obviously rubbed off on Tiger, he choked in the clutch, just like Romo does.
