Here I am hijacking my own thread but that reminded me of a story my wife told this weekend.
When she was a girl she lived in St Paul. She was selling candy for the gymnastics team. She went to a big house on Summit Avenue and rang the doorbell. Muriel Humphrey came to the door.
Wife: Would you like to buy some candy for the gymnastics team?
Muriel: “No we are all on diets here” [slam]

Wow. I lived on Summit Avenue in a mansion all cut up into apartments right across from St Catherine’s, even the garage was an apartment. Mrs. Wright was the owner and she lived upstairs. She gave all her renters Christmas gifts........she gave my folks a tape recorder for Christmas, can you imagine?
