Help. Need a good Text to HTML website.

I'm as up to speed on posting hyperlinks and pictures in a thread or reply as the average FReeper, but my main source of making Text to HTML is going away.

Currently I'm using an older version of Google Docs that has an edit HTML option. But Google Docs (stupid idiots that they are) will soon be disabling this option.

Most of my FReeping is done at work (shhh - don't tell my IT guys), so I can't download a good text to HTML editor. I also don't have access to Microsoft Outlook for email purposes.

What I've been looking for is a good website that allows an easy generation of hyperlinks and even pictures.

Any ideas?

Are you asking about doing the HTML for posting here in FR?

And just to be sure....you know about the FR sandbox?

Uh-oh. That’s accessable by downloading.

Can’t do that - AT WORK.

Most of the stuff you’re talking about is just a hrefs, when I have to use one I just do a quick “view source” copy one to get the basic structure, paste and replace with my stuff. If I was doing a lot I’d grab a bunch of the tags I use the most and put them in a text file for easy reference.

Yes, just making sure....

But for FR, I just do the typing in of the HTML code.

For websites, I use Microsoft FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

This is very similar to the one you posted a link to, but I find it to be quite handy. I like the appearance.

You are going to be quite limited without downloading a WYSIWYG editor. Online followed by copy and paste will have to do.

Not exactly. It asks that you...

“Just type the HTML and it will be shown below.”

I’m looking for one that allows you to past in the already linked HTML and it converts it to the <img scr....

OK, I like that. I cut and pasted the following. Hit Source. And this is what I got....

"Any ideas?"

Yeah, if you're going to steal time from your employer then join your brothers in the occupy movement.

FYI - many (most?) businesses monitor the employee's Internet activity.

Cool!

A Snarky response from the Box Guy.

Well, I can one-up that. I"ll show how much more cooler I am than he is by posting in a box with more fonts and colors.

Nyahhh!

View source is cool. If only there was a way to copy ONLY the source that you want to view. Instead of the entire page.

Which browser are you using? All the ones I’ve ever played with with the view source window is a read only text editor which means you can highlight selected text, then a clipboard copy will just give that.

Also it’s worth remembering that Word can do most not horrible complicated HTML and save as HTML, which is really just a text file you can open with notepad and copy and paste to FR. Kind of clunky, and Word is by no means a good web page editor, but again if you’re just putting together some hrefs and img srcs it’ll do and your work machine probably has Word on it.

FReeping from work isn’t necessarily stealing time. Folks on salary are paid for results not time, if FReeping doesn’t interfere with the results everybody gets what they’re paying for.

IE 8. And I’ve looked and looked at Word options. Like you said, they are klunky. I didn’t even see a save as HTML option. Not sure I would even want to go to that much trouble.

IE 8 let’s me highlight text. You have to get to the Other Formats and extend the drop down in the Save As, it’s amazing how many thing Word can save as. I’ve used Word to throw together a quick web page, for an extraction it’s a bit of a pain, to slap a page up it’s pretty handy though.
