I was wondering if anyone knew the source code for putting up youtube videos on a blog or a website? I tried looking it up but there wasn't anything helpful or worthwile. I think I used to know the appropriate HTML or JAVA code to do it but I know longer know.

It's time for a new HTML reference so you can make your posts look cool. HTML means Hyper Text Markup Language. It's a set of simple commands used to format the text of your posts, add images, or links, or change the appearance. URL is Uniform Resource Locator. It's the name of the page or the picture that you see, the www.http:// stuff. You'll need to use the URL to make links and post pictures. Quotation Marks Quotes have to be used around the URLs for web pages and images on Free Republic. Some systems do not require this. Ours...

Ladies and gents, I have a problem. I've posted here for years, and I've let it slide until now. I should have asked these questions before, but I was too lazy/indifferent to bother. Anyway, it's gotten to the point where I can't take it anymore. I can't post pictures. I can't italicize the text that I want to respond to. I can't post links. I can't post text in different colors or fonts. I've tried tinkering with the settings on Free Republic. I've tried tinkering with my web browser. Can someone out there give me an idiot-proof explaination of what...

I just created a thread and tried to embed a video from youtube. It didn't work. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? I did copy/paste the embed html language from the youtube site, but didn't get the link. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Here is the URL for the FR thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1972783/posts?page=2

How do you italicise excerpts from someone's post when you reply?

I'm trying to learn HTML and set up a web site. Can anyone recommend a free, easy-to-use editor? I've heard Front Page was good but that isn't made any more.

I've been to the HTML bootcamp link on FR but I can't find the how to for creating charts. When I try to post an article that a has a chart, the outside frame work for the actual chart will not highlight to be copied. A two column chart for example. A point in the right direction sure would be appreciated.

My web design business (sole proprietorship) has grown to the point where I must start subcontracting parts of my projects and focusing my attention on promotion, customer relations, and management. Does anyone have experience in putting web related work out for bid? Any good advice is appreciated.

I'm looking for a way to post pictures and graphics that are not from some web source. The HTML method won't allow me to post a picture that's stored on my hard drive. I'm somewhat new to FR, blogging and HTML and would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

<p>When I came to Free Republic I had never used HTML. All the guides seemed complicated. This is a guide where I try to keep it as short as possible to cover the most needed topics. There are many better and more complete guides. I'll link to a couple at the end.</p>

FReepers have come through to help me before, and I'm hoping that you can do it again. I have a school webpage, and I'm trying to improve their default layouts a little bit. Basically, I have a script that I found in a tutorial to open up a popup window. I want to use the same popup window for a bunch of different vocabulary words, so that the student doesn't wind up with 15 windows open. Here's my problem. The first window pops up. After that, the new page will go into the same window, but it doesn't get the...

If Mozilla, Opera and Apple's Safari browser have their way, the HTML specification (define) could be getting its first major point update in a decade. The three vendors have banded together in a proposal to the W3C for the HTML 5 specification, which includes Web Apps 1.0 and Web Forms 2.0 specifications and that it's also backwards compatible with HTML 4. "HTML5 is about preserving the information people have accumulated over the years," Opera spokesperson Anne van Kesteren told internetnews.com. "By remaining backward and forwards compatible, we hope to ensure that people will be able to interpret HTML for decades if...

If anyone can offer assistance, I would appreciate it. I'm trying to upload website changes to my company server. For some reason, on several files (but not all) I am getting an error message (see below). Like I said, some files will publish with no problem, but if/when I try to upload all at once and even some one by one, I get the error message. Why do some go through and others not? The server could not complete your request. Contact your Internet service provider or web server admin to make sure that the server has FP Server Extensions...

Welcome to all Posters/Hosts/Hostesses! This is for the hosts present, past, future to share information & be the “nuts & bolts”, housekeeping, sharing of issues etc. for the thread. I am putting it in an obscure “chat” category so we can escape some exposure as this is NOT a GENERAL chat thread but rather one of limited interest. Rather than post all the information ON THIS THREAD, I have provided links. This way I can change the material in the document when needed as updates or modifications. We as hosts can give ideas, help each other & use this...

I have lost the bookmark on a thread some wise old sage started here....and subsequently lost it. Would some kind FR soul please direct me to an HTML primer so I can remember how to post pics and equally obnoxious spam...? Pretty please?

If you're good with HTML, please help! I want to add pictures on the left and right sides of the header block on my blog (linked above). I don't know how to do it. When I add a photo link, it just puts it under what's already there instead of off to the side. If anybody knows how to do it, please, help me!

If you think that employers' health insurance costs have gotten out of hand, that's nothing. The rhetoric about health insurance costs is what I would argue is most out of control. I think that both the Left and the Right are abusing the issue, with the Left trumpeting it as a rationale for national health insurance and the Right buying into the notion that employer-provided health insurance is a major competitive disadvantage for U.S. companies See full article for examples and analysis. http://www.techcentralstation.com/102705B.html

I have looked at the HTML Boot Camp and have learned a lot there, but I have been unable to learn how to post a picture that is resident on my computer that I did not get off of the web. I know how to post a picture taken from the web using the form: img_src="http://www.hotpix.com/images/xyz.gif" (enclosed by < >) I do not know how to post a picture that I have stored on my hard drive. For instance, say I take a picture of Teddy Kennedy in a drunken stupor slobbering all over Hillary Clinton with my digital camera....

WASHINGTON -- Photo stickers of President Bush and the American flag placed in urinals in some Belgian ministry offices in Brussels right before the president's European tour have Rep. Vito Fossella mighty peeved. But the lawmaker's ire, expressed to the Belgian prime minister at the Belgian Embassy here, may have been misdirected. Although Fossella (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) accused the prime minister of responsibility for the stickers, Serge Wauthier, an embassy spokesman, noted that the Belgian government had condemned the stickers and their placement earlier this week, taking "a very clear position distancing itself from this initiative." For anyone who is interested, here's a useful (free) utility from Microsoft that integrates with IE5+. When you select text/images on a web page (as though you were going to edit/copy them) then right-click, you'll have a 'View Partial Source' option in the popup context menu. Choosing this option will show you the HTML source in notepad. I've used this for a couple years and it's VERY useful for determining the URLs of pictures you might want to link & also for answering 'how'd they do that?' if you see interesting stuff on a page. Again, free. Very fast download....

I'm finding that certain html tags are not being recognized at FR. I started using an html editor for some simple markup, and it's font color tags and Div indent tags aren't working. I tried using the [code] tag to show coding, but that didn't work either, so I'm substituting { and } for < and >. Here is how the editor (Nvu, excellent freeware) would mark up a passage: {div style="margin-left: 40px;"}{span style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);"}Then he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, "Not by might nor by power, but...

The HTML Campfire Gather 'round one and all. New or old, it doesn't matter. All that should matter is a willingness to have, what may or may not be considered, knowledge bestowed upon anyone willing to learn how in the world all this cool looking stuff happens 'round here. Let's get started... Line Break: <br> When you type <br> at the end of a line of text This is what happens. New Paragraph: <p> When you type <p> at the end of a line of text This is what happens. These you need to turn something "on" and "off". Bold...

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) -- For Brian Sooy, the way letters appear on a page is divine. So the self-described font fanatic and owner of a graphic design firm was happy to get the call from the publishers of New Living Translation Bible to create a font for the nation's third most popular Bible, which is expected to sell up to 1.5 million copies this year. The Bible printers, Tyndale House Publishers of Chicago, asked Sooy for help in 2002. They were looking for a new font that would make their Bible more compact and easier to read. A company art...

Hi Folks. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to use HTML to post pictures and quotes from other sites? I have been trying to post some of the articles from FR to FreeDominion ( Canada's sister site) but am having no luck. Also, I would like to post some stuff on FR from FD, and from some of the Canadian newspapers. Any sites you can suggest that could help me learn? Many thanks to my fellow Conservatives.

I’m sixteen years old and I am trying to start my own conservative website. Lately I’ve been outraged over the liberalism that is constantly blared out on the media and the Internet that is anti American and anti Bush so a friend of mine who is also conservative suggested that we try starting our own website. I don’t have a credit card or a checking account so I decided to try somewhere I could get a free website and free domain ETC. I’ve never done this before so I have been going around the Internet asking for advice. I’m wondering...

I created a thread here a couple weeks back. I was asking for help with a Web site that I was planning on building for the OSU College Republicans. Well I have now built that Web site, and you can view it here. Let me know what you think of it. But I do have another problem I would like some help with. Our Public Relations manager somehow made it to where the Web site is now also available at www.osurepublicans.comBUT when you go to that one...it brings up an error. It says that a run time error has occured,...

Okay, I'm still having trouble posting graphics. Here is my New Year's Day Resolution post.Essentially, I'm still falling short, despite the kind advice given to me: I can't seem to post pics. Perhaps it's my method. If I'm doing this all wrong, violating posting rules, let me know. What I feel more comfortable with is coming across a graphic that is interesting, then when the time is right, going into my hard drive and posting, let say, a picture of John Kerry with two heads, showing to the world he's a flip flopper. Now, I have some HTML/Graphics books: This...

I have recently been named as the Webmaster for the OSU College Republicans. The last Webmaster didn't ever update the Web site, and he left the College Republicans in a bad situation. He left without giving up the password for the Web site. Now he won't return their calls. So while we are attempting to track down the password for the Web site, I am still scripting out what I want it to look like. I am leaning towards The Auburn College Republicans Web site theme and look. We've visited several, and are still deciding. Here is our old Web...

Hello! I've been a FReeper for 2 1/2 years, and modestly stated, I think a pretty good one. However, I've never quite figured out how to post pics and HTML links here. Yes, I've looked at the Help Page here, but still can't grasp it. This is one of my New Year's resolutions. I'm somewhat computer literate, and I have the book, "Learning HTML in 24 Hours." (The title of this book is a lie, by the way). Can anyone give a hand to a fellow FReeper?? Happy New Year!!!

Hi everyone! I figured that since I get a few questions a week about HTML from members here, and I design sites for a living, that I could help the community by answering any questions that you have about how to post HTML, build your profile page, etc. Just my little attempt at making this an even better place.
