That’s the reality of it. - He’s pretty much been through the thrasher, like Montana was when he moved to KC.
Don’t worry. The fact that the very hurting colts cut him means that he failed the physical exam, and it is unlikely that he will pass it with any other team.
Manning has 2-3 seasons in him. Tops. It would be nuts for a team to go ape over him.
He'll be on the Saints' hit list.
Elway made it clear that Tebow is their guy; they're sticking with him all the way.....and that was in January. He'd look awfully bad if he up and traded Tebow away for a banged up old warhorse like Manning (who I happen to admire greatly, I hasten to add).
This reminds me of Montana's latter days in the league. No one will remember him as a KC Chief; he will always be a '49er. Same with Manning; he will always be a Colt.
All that said, makes one wonder just how expensive Manning will be for a team that will take him on and let him finish his career with some dignity. I'm betting....not THAT expensive.
Ty Detmer had all the qualities you discuss, plus he had an accurate arm.
In college you can get by with scattershot tendencies and being 3 yards off the mark from time to time. In the NFL that turns into interceptions and 3 and outs.
Tebow is a more popular Matt Leinert or Akili Smith at this point. Popularity doesn’t make a guy a good quarterback, and other than a molasses slow delivery and close your eyes and pray accuracy, Tebow doesn’t have much more than that and the running skills of an average running back.
I’ve watched the boy play. You definitely short-sell him and his abilities. The Broncos didn’t get as far as they did last season by accident or luck.
