Tot's tantrum gets family kicked off plane

BOSTON, -- A family returning from a trip to Turks and Caicos said it cost them $2,000 when they were kicked off their flight to Boston due to their daughter's tantrum.

Colette Vieau said she and her husband were on a JetBlue plane preparing for takeoff in February with daughters Natalie, 2, and Cecilia, 3, when the younger girl threw a tantrum and refused to sit down, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

"We were holding them down with all of our might, seat belt on. And I said, 'We have them seated. Can we go now?' (The flight attendant) said the pilot's made a decision to turn the plane around," Vieau said.

She said the plane returned to the gate and her family was forced to spend the night in a hotel and book a new flight, costing them $2,000.

"We did what we were asked to do. We weren't belligerent, drunk, angry or screaming. We were just having a hard time struggling with our children," Vieau said.

JetBlue released a statement saying the flight "had customers that did not comply with crew member instructions for a prolonged time period. The captain elected to remove the customers involved for the safety of all customers and crew members on board."

I had a kid kicking my seat before takeoff, I turned around and asked politely to stop
and the brat didn't. So I raised my voice and yelled at him to stop while his MOTHER
just watched and did nothing to assist me. I managed to scare the kid so much
he didn't make a peep the whole pleasant flight. Kick them all off Imo.

I don't pay to bother others, so don't bother me.

My kids got one or two (at the most) early spankings for tantrums, disrespect, or not listening.
After that, they knew the threat was good and there were no problems.

It was funny, though, when I would say loudly (while trying to keep a straight face) to my kids in the supermarket, “I’m gonna get my belt off in a minute!” There were actually shoppers who wondered if I was serious. My kids were pretty sure I was joking.

I’m amazed at all the crappy parents posting here. I’m guessing they’ve settled into the convenient “ADD” excuse, (or is it “ADHD” or some other set of letters?) for their own kids. Nothing can be done (shrug), it’s nobody’s fault (shrug), now where’d I leave the Ritalin?

I wonder how parents ever survived back before all those nifty letter groupings were discovered by pharmaceutical scientists and concerned, over-funded government bureaucracies?

“maybe you would have rather they hire a baby sitter for 2 weeks?....then you would condemn them for that...or maybe they should have just drugged the kids,right?.....”

What the heck? I don’t know where you got that from my comments. I just think it’s foolish to take kids that young on a trip to the Caribbean, there’s no need for it. The kids won’t remember it, and the parents will probably enjoy it less than if they just waited a couple years.

Exactly. When we went on family vacations, it was to visit relatives or see sights around the country that the whole family could enjoy. When my folks wanted to have some fun in Jamaica or New Orleans, me and sis got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for a week, and everyone was happy.

I never did much spanking. Maybe I lucked out on my daughter and grandson, both were reasonable most of the time.

I never did much spanking.

No, me meither.
Like I said, just once was usually enough because that made all future threats credible.
And the "spanking" was never more than a single swat on the backside. My kids were / are awesome (if I do say so myself).

FRegards,
LH

Are you insinuating that EGPWS is smelly, unshaved, unshowered, old, and a drunk who staggers when he flys?
