El Caminito del Rey (English: The King's little pathway) is a walkway or via ferrata, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Álora in the district of Málaga, Spain. The name is often shortened to Camino del Rey. In 1901 it became obvious that workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide for transport of materials, and for the inspection and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway took four years and it was finished in 1905.

Seen this before. It is closed to the public, but entry is unenforced.

You would have to be nuts to risk your life on decaying Spanish 107 year old disintegrating cement and steelwork.

Nope. Can’t do it. Had to stop the video. I don’t think I’m clinically acrophobic, or maybe I am... But fear of that hardly strikes me as “irrational”. What’s irrational is going out and climbing on that stuff.

I get vertigo just looking at pictures like that.

I see a new reality TV show. Right after Ice Road Truckers will be Narrow Trail Walkers.

My favorite road is the one lain dirt drive to the top of Slate Peak in the North Cascades of Washington State.

There is a bend along a cliff that is called Dead Horse Turn, named after a horse that fell over the 900 foot cliff during the gold mining era.

It is hilarious to drive, especially when other cars come by. I always stop and get out. Exhilarating.

Nothing like it. A road you could easily drive off. I hope that the State never widens it. It is like going back into time.

Looking over the edge is better, but you can get an idea.
