As are so many A-list actors these days (I say these days because it didn’t used to be this way in the days of John Wayne and James Stewart).
People like Hanks act because they are not capable of doing anything else (productive) in life. So, they pretend to be other people doing great things. The problem is, they begin to believe they are somehow better and smarter than the rest of us because they can act and they have so many sycophants fawning all over them that they start to believe their own self-importance.

It has been said that acting really isn’t very hard, doesn’t take too much intelligence and that many could do it if inclined and given the opportunity.
