Two years ago Aaron and Debbie Knobloch learned that their baby daughter Alida was suffering from a rare lung disease and that she would need a portable oxygen tank to help her breathe. The good news was that the oxygen tank would make their little girl healthy. The bad news was that shed have to be tethered to the 6-pound tank most of the time.
The Knoblochs struggled to find a way to give Alida a normal life. Aaron built a walker with a pocket for the oxygen tank so she wouldnt always have to be tied to one of her parents. But as the little girl grew older and more mobile the walker wasnt enough.
When Aaron saw a TV program about service dogs, he knew he had the answer: with a dog carrying her oxygen tank, little Alida would be free to roam and play with other kids. Enter Mr. Gibbs, a golden doodle trained to be Alidas constant companion, ever at her side whether its scampering down the slide at the playground or trotting alongside as she rides her bike.

Ping!
Thanks for posting, SAA! The pictures are absolutely adorable! Gee, you don’t think this little girl loves this dog, do you? (and visa versa?) Wonderful!
Good dog!
I only see one problem with this.
SQUIRREL!!!
What an adorable little girl and dog.
Squverril? Boris and Natasha make short vork of squvirril.
I saw this on the Today show this morning. At first, I thought it was so sweet and heartwarming. Then I saw this child yank and tug and pull on that poor dog’s chain over and over again. Now I feel really sorry for the dog.
The girl is 3. I’m not able to view the film now but I assume it’s not much worse than my boy has been.
Yup. I have a now-5 year old. He was rough with our dog just a few times and we put a stop to it. It’s not fair to the dog and it’s not fair to let the kid think it’s ok to yank (and yank, and yank) on a dog’s chain.
Who’s a good doggie? You’re a good doggie. Yes you are! Yes you are!

Dog’s love to work. Symbiosis
OK I saw it. So she did a little in the broadcast, but no big deal. She wasn’t “yanking-yanking-yanking” as if constantly truly yanking it hard every few seconds. Just a few continuous tugs, part of which is obviously her understanding of directing him to do certain things when he doesn’t understand her talking.
