I'm in the market for a pistol and was talking to a client of mine (ex RAF EOD) who has a pretty good collection (and a shooting gallery in his basement) and he mentioned the Sig Sauer as his favorite (along with the Baretta) but I can't remember which model he mentioned.
Anyone have any advice on Sigs in general and which models are worth checking out?
Oh Yes Sir! Slide rails on the outside (just like Sig p210).....
= accuracy. Fantastic......relatively affordable.
You bet I want one.
My brother has a High-power and with it....is the best HG shot I know.
John Moses Browning died before production began. I don’t think that that the HP has ever been bested!
My first good quality gun was a Browning Hi-Power. I had Kings Hardware in DeFuniak Springs, Fla order one for me. I still remember the price, $104.50.
After I had Mr. King order it, the gun control act of 1968 was passed. For some reason I thought it would ban the Hi-Power. Mr. King told me they had said it would be shipped but I thought he was wrong.
It came in and Mr. King told me I could take my time buying it since I didn’t think it would come. I had the money in the bank so I went ahead and got it.
What a beauty it was. Made in Belgium and came with a nice Browning pistol rug. For some reason, I have always been able to hit well with it. In all these years I have had it jam exactly once. That was when my best friend’s beautiful wife shot it. She only weighed about 95 pounds and I am sure she limp wristed it.
The Browning HP is a work of art
But alas all my guns were stolen....
But the P-230 was sweet!!
I believe Tanfolio is made in PI now, by the same folks that make Rock Island Armory 1911’s.
I have never shot an EAA witness but I have heard good things.
I second that!!! Just exquisite!!!

What is a "two mode" trigger?
"Fragile guts" in a combat weapon that the US Army almost adopted (and only lost to Beretta due to price).
The US Navy SEALS are issued Sigs as are the Secret Service and US Air Marshals. Fragile guts?
OK....One more.....not beautiful in the classic sense, but “interesting”.

It sure is a pleasure to carry....
Probably a Ruger SA guy, too. Gotta love them Blackhawks. :^)
Around 15 years ago I came across two great deals on Argentine made Browning Hi-Powers. I paid less than $200 each for them and they are every bit as good as my old 1969 model.
In fact they look just like it with the rowell hammer, tho their finish is not as good. It appears to be some type of baked on finish which while not as attractive has proven extremely durable.
Argentina was one of the rare countries which actually paid Fabrique Nationale in Belgium for the right to make them in their own country. For that they got FN machinery and technicians to start up production.
I have noticed that inside they are exactly like the older Belgian made guns. Even the tool marks on the side of the unlocking cam below the barrel have the exacet same cuts, same size and all. Clearly made on the same Browning machinery
As near as I can tell they are one hundred percent the equal of the Belgian made ones except for finish. In fact since the Argentines may have better steel and just might be stonger.
That is a double action/single action trigger.
The first pull is a long stiff stroke which cocks the hammer as well as releasing the hammer. That's the double action part.
All the trigger pulls after the first one are lighter because the hammer was already cocked by the shot previously fired. That's the single action.
What that means is you have two types of trigger pulls on the same weapon, which degrades accuracy on one mode or the other, and usually both.
Yep, have one in .44 Special.
Great buys!
What you posted is my understanding as well.
Somewhat similar to the Portuguese Hi-Power.
