VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- On a dusty, rock-strewn expanse at the edge of the Mojave Desert, a company linked to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants to build a bullet train that would rocket tourists from the middle of nowhere to the gambling palaces of Las Vegas.

the other link that is rediculous is from fresno to merced. that is the first link that will be built and ridership will be very low. from san francisco to los angeles would make far more sense, or from los angeles to san diego. no matter estimates are that it will be 20 years before the first run. over 1,000,000,000 dollars goes into engineering and environmental studies

This was Harry Reid’s request under the stimulus bill. I remember doing a parody on the song, people get ready, there’s a Train a coming, the night that stimulus bill was passed.

The train was to run between Disneyland and Las Vegas. I believe that $800 million dollars was allocated for the train. i’ve been wondering what happened to the money. I should have known that it was being held back for the election,
