Cops save kitten with head stuck in can

BARRIE, Ont. – Police came to the rescue after a kitten managed to get itself stuck in a can of Chef Boyardee in central Ontario Tuesday.

Answering an unrelated call, police accidentally stumbled across the small kitten with its head jammed in the can near the steps of a residence.

At first, police saw what appeared to be a frozen squirrel in a can on the ground. Then the can moved. Closer examination showed that it was actually a small kitten with his head stuck.

The kitten appears to have got himself into trouble through simple misadventure, Sgt. Doug Henderson said.

"It looks like he was probably just trying to get some Beefaroni," he said.

Officers tried unsuccessfully to free the animal, but they were able to cut a hole in the can so the kitten could breathe. Police rushed the creature to the OSPCA office.

Shelter staff safely removed the can and the cat is doing fine, according to Kim Thompson, who works at the OSPCA in Barrie, Ont. The kitten will remain in shelter custody until a suitable owner is found.

Shelter staff have named the cat Boyardee.

I ran into it really fast, low and hard.

How else?

;D

Yoplait cups are responsible for more animal deaths than all other ‘trash’.

They refuse to redesign their cups.

My Siamese/Maine Coon mix was very smart.

Each morning I would walk around the perimeter of the village in which I lived. The cat would come out with me, but instead of taking the circular route, he would cut through streets and wait for me to pass by, giving a critical meow each time. No doubt trying to tell me there was a quicker way.

"Boyardee" may not be very smart but she is so cute I expect she will find a good home very soon.

“Yoplait cups are responsible for more animal deaths than all other ‘trash’.”

Interesting; I hadn’t heard that.

Back in the 80s before there was an internet, there was a phone/write-in campaign to get the company to change their “unique” inverted cup design changed due to innumerable wildlife getting their heads stuck and slowly dying or running into traffic, unable to see.

They said no.

Apparently, in 1998, they responded to internet pressure but their lame ‘modification’ didn’t really help at all, given the recent videos above

In just a few minutes, I found all of the above.
