Could Beatlemania see a revival through the offspring of the Fab Four?

James McCartney, son of Beatles singer Paul McCartney, said a new generation of The Beatles could be on the horizon, in an interview with the BBC published on its website on Monday.

The 34-year-old musician, who is following his famous father's footsteps into the industry, said that forming a band with fellow Beatles children Sean Lennon (son of John Lennon), Dhani Harrison (son of George Harrison) and Zak and Jason Starkey (Ringo Starr's sons) was not out of the question.

I agree with your thoughts, but on the other hand, it's hard to imagine it getting worse than the variety of music that drove me to give up American pop and listen to music in other languages. I would definitely listen to their work if they offered it.

I tried to listen to American pop music recently. It was techno-Disney-formula-puke or the like across the top 10.

So for me, it's pagode or South American pop and American classics from 20+ years ago. Sad to say, it's a thousand times better quality and creative talent than what I hear on the radio today.

Oh, I agree. I'll listen to it with an open mind, but I'm leery.

South American pop, eh? Interesting.

I'm a big fan of all types of musical genres; everything from bluegrass to bebop; from ska to dancehall; from string quartets/quintets to trip hop. But the one thing I can't dig is today's pop music, and I lump most of what's being called "country" today into that genre.

Maybe they could do a remake of MUSKRAT LOVE. That’s my favorite Beatles song.

Being facetious bump.

This is a great idea, 20 years ago.

I have long considered that the only way for a musical group to continue for any length of time is to rotate all members of the group out and replace them with fresh talent periodically, one at a time.

While doing so seems to be a “cheat” of sorts, it has some decided advantages. The first of these is that it elevates young new talent to the top during their most creative and productive years, instead of them having to be a small businessman with a startup while trying to create.

When someone is rotated out, they can either do a solo career or join a different group.

The offspring of music greats have not been the worst at the musical arts, just look at Stephan A. Gordy and Skylar K. Gordy, son and grandson of Berry Gordy (of Motown fame), aka Redfoo and SkyBlu of LMFAO...

Seems like this ended before it began.

According to the latest sources, James McCartney is backing off his earlier statements. He now states, "I was just thinking outloud."

Apparently they felt anything short of the acomplishments of their fathers would fizzle pretty quickly.

Can't say I blame him.

Zac Starkey drummed with The Who. I saw him on that tour and thought he was pretty good.

Zappa plays Zappa is doing well.

I think the Beatle kids should give it a try.

"And someone would want to listen to this band because...?"

I would give it a listen, because maybe their Dads taught them a thing or two. Then again they may be complete wankers and can't carry a tune together. But their pedigree gives them a shot to be above average. (When you are constantly exposed to Music you tend to get good at it. Maybe not Beatles level mastery but you can still be worth a listen!)

All I can say is “have at it” then.

Probably should’ve started this before their mid-30’s is all I can say.
