Player cheats, refs miss it. Hockey player's ridiculously sneaky move (video)

The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings may have clinched a playoff spot well before Thursday's game ended, but they certainly didn't play like it. It was a hard-fought battle right to the final horn and then some, with the Sharks narrowly edging their divisional rivals 6-5 in a shootout.

But don't let the high score fool you into thinking there weren't any big defensive plays. Why, Ryane Clowe's pokecheck on Jarrett Stoll with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd period stands out, and not just because it broke up a very threatening-looking 3-on-2 rush and potentially saved a game-winning goal. It was also the fact that Clowe was on the bench at the time:

Two things: First, this is the best use of waving red arrows in the history of waving red arrows. Second, let no one ever again claim the Sharks don't do what it takes to win. Ryane Clowe straight up cheats. Not since Wacky Races have I seen such dastardly behavior.

When asked about the play, Clowe responded, "I don't know what you're talking about."

I love Diane Rigg but I have to say I didn't see most of the bond movies, so didn't know she was in one...

she was special on the Avengers....

we haven't got even 10% of the quality actors that we had even 30 yrs ago....and the ones that are good, struggle to find major roles..

” Cheating is not something that should be tolerated - that’s the leftist way.”

Yeah, but it was two California teams. The LA Times already blamed Bush for it.

I agree that something should be done, for the sake of justice and to serve as a deterrent for this kind of nonsense in the future. However, the NHL may not have a mechanism in place to do this. Suspensions involving plays on the ice (including those that do not involve a penalty at the time) are aimed almost exclusively at attempts to injure, so I'm not sure what kind of urgency the NHL would have in dealing with this.

There's a possibility that the NHL could institute (immediately) a new rule or clarification of an existing rule that would potentially allow for suspensions after the fact. There's also a possibility that NHL on-ice officials might just "overlook" a serious act of retribution against Ryan Clowe in the Sharks' next game.

The biggest issue right now is that the NHL has to eliminate any incentive a team might have to try this kind of crap in the future.

I honestly don’t mind little plays like that. It makes the game more interesting.

Same here, but I consider hockey to be aking to "professional" wrestling - the side shows are more interesting than the main action.

Watch James Bond’s ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’. You will love her even more. She was great! She really matched Bond’s intelligence, wit, and personality. That is why Bond fell in love with her during the movie.
