Word For The Day, Monday, 4/9/12

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

intransigent; adj.

1. refusing to agree or compromise; uncompromising; inflexible. noun 2. a person who refuses to agree or compromise, as in politics.

Etymology: 1875–80; < Spanish intransigente, equivalent to in- in-3 + transigente (present participle of transigir to compromise) < Latin trānsigent- (stem of trānsigēns, present participle of trānsigere to come to an agreement); see transact

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Wonder how Obama feels about a southern white Christian named Bubba winning the Masters.

As a public service, why not include proper pronunciation of each day’s word?

Just an idea...

CA....

His stint nearing the end
Still refuses to bend
Creating more unemployed, indigent

An excellent idea, Chances Are, but if they happen to forget, howjsay is an excellent resource.
But, then again, it's not for me to say.

if i can remember to do it, i will try to include a link to the pronunciation of my words, to that site. Hearing it is a lot easier than deciphering the sometimes obscure phonetic spellings given in dictionaries.

Obama’s intransigence on the budget vs Paul Ryan’s proposals means that the US economic recovery has slowed to a standstill.

It probably doesn't help that he has a General Lee too.
Is this just another intransigent Republican or is he calling a spade a spade?

Axelrod is an @$$! Chuck Grassley is 78 yo and yes he is a pig farmer who calls a spade a spade. xshub follows him on twitter and is the one who alerted me to that tweet. He clearly does his own tweeting and doesn’t rely on staff. Xshub suggested that Chuck respond to axelrod by saying oh maybe i should be tweeting pix of my JUNK instead? OH WAIT... that was one of YOUR guys who did that....

Well it was a typical democrat response. If you can’t address the issue, attack the messenger.

Project Veritas exposed the intransigent Eric Holder as a fool. Video of white male offering Eric Holder's name and getting handed his ballot to vote. He refuses the ballot, of course. Edited in is Holder claiming we don't have a voter fraud problem. Priceless.

My son & his family moved from NJ to Texas two years ago. Last year, they were residing in a town called Coppell. I asked my granddaughter, who was seven at the time, if it was pronounced Ca’-pel (like the former Nightline newscaster) or Ca-pell’. She said, “Oh, grandpa—it’s pronounced ca-pail’!”
