Besides collecting cars, I collect old tractors. I have an '86 fully hydraulic Wheel Horse, a '68 Sears Suburban 8 Speed and the first electric start Snapper rider. The Snapper is like a carnival ride. The only thing on my list I don't have is a 318 Deer and a Hit and Miss engine. I am sure something will pop up this summer.

The Snapper is like a carnival ride.

Because they had that center pivot tube frame.

BUT... I had one, and I could pull the pin out of that tube, and slide the whole mower into the rear of a Toyota Celica GT and close the hatch.

You’d have loved my uncle’s garage. He had two late sixties Wheel Horse lawn and garden tractors, one with a mowing deck and the other set up for tilling, garden plowing and the occasional snowstorm requiring a plowed driveway.

Anal about his “stuff” didn’t even begin to describe him. He washed them after every use, and they were waxed frequently. He never owned a station wagon, but did have several nice coupes over the years, Mercury early on, then Ford, then switching to Chevrolet in the seventies. His last car was an ice blue Monte Carlo with white interior.

People would put their names in with him for whenever he traded cars, they were perfectly kept, showroom really.

He was a Marine.
