Mr Obama Snr was among 100 or so Kenyan students brought to America by the African American Students Foundation.
that piece of misinfromation has been around for so long now, there's been more than enough time for any serious journalist to do a little more than repeat the misinformation. The first airlift flight landed at Idlewild airport in SEPTEMBER 1959 with 81 AASF sponsored Kenyans on board - AFTER BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA had already arrived in New York in AUGUST 1959

Cora Weiss (second from left), Executive Director of the African American Students Foundation, at Idlewild Airport welcoming the 81 students from Kenya on the first Airlift. Prior to the airlift, Kenyan labor leader Tom Mboya had toured the United States and persuaded many universities and colleges to provide scholarships for students from East Africa, mostly Kenya. The African American Students Foundation was founded to raise money to get the students to the United States to use these scholarships. The Foundation organized several airlifts. On the right with his back to the camera is William X. Scheinman who set up the African American Students Foundation. Scheinman was also a contributor.

Unlikely Events Recall Story of This President
The first plane was paid for because Harry Belafonte, Jackie Robinson and Sidney Poitier, together signed a fundraising letter, Mrs. Weiss said. In that first group of 1959, 81 students came. Barack Obama missed out on a seat on that first plane. Luckily the two teachers stepped in and raised money for him to come over on a parallel flight, she said.
Barack Hussein Obama didn't miss out on a seat on that first plane...and he didn't come over on a parallel flight HE SIMPLY WASN'T PART OF THE AIRLIFT CONTINGENT. He was in Hawaii a month before the first airlift landed.
