It wouldn’t bother me if Missy was fatter, it would keep her from being airborne most of the time. She travels the length of the house and never touches the floor, it’s rough on things that get in her way.

If there was a JRT here we wouldn’t have any furniture left at all.

We should have started hanging politicians right after we invented rope.

Forty pounds at 2 years of age for that cat is unhealthy.
I have seen a bigger lean cat younger that that one though.
About 5 years ago I was taking my black Maine Coon to the vet for shots. Our vet keeps two adoption cages from the local shelter in his waiting room. In one of the cages was the biggest domestic cat I’d ever seen in my life. Cream colored, Maine Coon, fourteen months old, lean and 42 pounds. I’d have adopted it, but the wife said we already have two cats and that’s enough. I didn’t know that they made kitties that big, but the vet said they aren’t common but there are a few around.

“...Adult cats typically weigh between seven and 12 pounds...” Not some breeds! Maine Coons are one of the largest breeds of domestic cat. Males weigh from 15 to 25 lb (6.8 to 11 kg) with females weighing from 10 to 15 lb (4.5 to 6.8 kg).[17]
May be he has a Maine Coon gene in there somewhere? Then again, did someone just stuff him?

Each batch of rope should be tested by hanging a politician. That would bring their numbers down to a manageable size.

She is a little tubbie!

"The owner doesn't realize that they are just loving the poor little thing literally to death." I just have no patience with that, though. How can they NOT know they're killing the animal, unless they're stupid? It's animal abuse, plain and simple. I hate the way people treat obese cats as some kind of joke, or as though they're cute. They're neither. They break my heart.

The article says he’s already lost a couple of pounds. Sounds hopeful to me.
