Dog 'flipping' could be a concern for pet owners

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A Smyrna family is heartbroken after giving their dog away, only to find out the new owner is now trying to "flip" the pooch.

Dog flipping is when a new owner receives a dog or animal for free and then immediately tries to sell the pet for a profit.

After posting the ad on Craigslist.com, Divina Mims thought she found the perfect home for her Chihuahua, Munchie.

"I just wanted him to go to a good home and money was not something I was trying to get for him," Mims said.

I rescue parakeets and other birds. If i could afford the massive deposit ($250) I would rescue cats and dogs as well.

While I do NOT understand why people are stupidly greedy or infinitely ignorant, I am still here to rescue pets. I would brave the management to protect a dog or a cat.

Is this like “cow tipping”?

Free dogs are just as lovable as are those who had cash behind their drooly smile and wagging tail. I prefer “free” dogs. They are so grateful!

Sounds like Munchie’s former owner is a Hussein voter ....clueless....still clinging to her unicorns and rainbows.

For now, I rescue birds. I am the proud owner of The Stig, The Magnificent Parakeet!

Even in this desert climate, he was left outside during the freezing cold of desert nights, and the overwhelming heat of desert days.

He sits at the corner of the cage closest to me, and sings his little heart out about how happy he is to be here with me.

With all the rescues I’ve had, he is the VERY happiest little bird I have had!

That is generally true, unless the person is Asian and wants to pay by the pound.

Boxers - Very sweet, affectionate breed...and often a couple of cards short of a full deck.

That movie is hysterical!

The article was a little depressing. I can’t for the life of me figure out how people come up with some of the money making scams they do.

I never had that problem.

When I found new homes for my rescued Dobes, it came with the caveat that IF the new owner ever did anything bad, cruel or weird to the dog, their body would never be found.

All my re-homed dogs lived long, happy lives...but the owners might have been a bit nervous....;D

[and yes, I ‘surprise visited’ them frequently]

*Always* ask more than the current going rate for labs.

Plus, labs will not take neutered animals.

It “throws off” the research results.

Microchips and tattoos are another thing they avoid.

You may think that only because they wag their tails when you feed them. But behind your back, they know exactly what they are, "freebie" dogs and they despise you for it.......

LOL...I have visions of you teaching the pup to *dig* and when the prospective owner comes for your inquisition...and they innocently ask if the the dog is *trained*...and you show them how clever they are when you say *China*!

Better be careful. That’s probably where Obama figured out that there is such a thing as a Free Lunch.
