I’ve heard that one nickname for moonshine in the past was “San Juan possum juice”. The possum part of this did not come from a game however but from the fact that possums, drawn by the odor, sometimes fell into mash containers out in the woods and drowned.

We played a version of this in college called “Pigeon”. The players would sit on the ledge of the 20th floor and drink until they fell. We tried to catch them in a net. It was a net that came fron a 10 gallon aquarium, but, hey, at least we tried. Some of them whistled like the old Stuka divebombers.
