Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

"Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

The author has clearly never dealt with a crying baby. Otherwise, the author is spot on.

After Hurricane IKE, Rick Perry was asked by the press about looting in Galveston County, Texas.
A DPS officer spoke up and told them that there was no looting going on.

Galveston County Texas has the highest per capita concealed handgun licenses in the state.

“Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.

And that is perhaps the epitome of reason. Through negotiation we arrive at a mutually beneficial arrangement where you perform some task for me and I provide you with money. No force needed as long as each fulfills their part of the bargain.

Robert Heinlein summed up the whole article with: “An armed society is a polite society”.

I like AKs, but an 18” bbl shotgun or .45 automatic might be better as violent criminal medicine, JMHO.

So true. Just consider Romney and his "endorsers" and all the "special interests".

and similar in many ways to what James Madison wrote in the
Federalist Number XLVI,p.301 James Madison ,Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay The Federalist Papers Penguin classics,1987.An armed people is certainly necessary to our
civilization—for there are but two ways -Reason —or the force of arms. As Noah Webster put it in 1833”There are two powers only sufficient to control men and secure the rights of individuals and peaceable administration; these are the combined force of religion and law, and the force or fear of
the bayonet.”America’s God and Country Wm.Federer editor p. 679-680 n. 145 see also The Bible or the Bayonet speech by

I keep my house gun loaded with #7 1/2’s. Just as effective within ten feet as OO, and far less overpenetration.

Oh.... did I mention my house shotgun is an 18 1/2” hammer double? All the goblin will hear before the boom is two soft clicks.

I see it as no coincidence that our nation at last threw off the remnants of bloody English thinking that some men are not free, within a generation of Colt's 1836 patent.

The only people that gun laws disarm are those who obey the law.

While the article’s overall point is sound, there are really 3 methods, not two: Force, Reason, Emotional Manipulation.
Many people are swayed more through emotional manipulation than through reasoning.
