Our parish doesn’t do anything with the girl scouts for this reason. Parents have asked, and it’s a good opportunity to inform them.
It’s about time ping
The moral issues notwithstanding, there is the economic issue as well. While I have nothing against the cookie sales per se, the troop doesn’t get enough of the proceeds. Children are basically working to fund this organization.
For a long time, Catholics were not allowed to participate in regular scouting because it was perceived as a very Protestant organization that did not regard Catholics as Christians and also, iirc, that it placed loyalty to secular authorities too much to the fore. There were separate Catholic scouting type groups. This changed after Vatican II.
Guess it is time to review this again. Actually, past time...the Girl Scouts have been little handmaids of the state, particularly with regards to sexual morality, for years now.
Let’s hope it will bring a needed spring clean-up.
Catholic girls’ membership in the Girl Scouts needs to go way of Catholic mens’ forbidden membership in the Freemasons.
“Last year, the Scouts angered some conservatives by accepting into a Colorado troop a 7-year-old transgender child who was born a boy but was being raised as a girl.”
This angered conservatives? How about angering the parents of the real girls in the troop? Didn’t anyone ask the scoutmaster (scoutmistress?) what the growing bulge was in “Terry’s” skirt?
FWIW, I don’t think Girl Scouts make the cookies anymore.
As I understand it, scouting in general is declining because they do less “scouting”.
We took our girls out of that wretched organization and our parish now hosts an American Heritage Girls troop. They just finished their first year and membership has far surpassed any expectations.
Long overdue.
but routinely gets caught distributing pro-sex pamphlets from Plannd Parenthood to the kids

I think you are correct.
IT sad I was Brownie and Girl Scout back in da day
Same here. I enjoyed it so much that I made certain my daughter enrolled in the Girl Scouts. That was 20 years ago and even then I could see how much it had changed. How are you doing? I always enjoy your pings!
We participate in Little Flowers. True, authentic Catholicism.
Correction...*haven’t* given.
