The Twittersphere has decided that the Federal Budget's bacon tax is not hogwash.
Hundreds of Tweeters used #bacontax to express amusing views on the federal government little-known increase on the pig slaughter levy.
"Treasury have gone the whole hog on finding new revenues #Budget #bacontax," Bondles tweeted.
"The #bacontax proves the greens are driving Gillard's vegan agenda," Zackster wrote.
The incessant bacon talk made Helen Chad hungry.
"All this #bacontax talk is making me want to go to bed so that breakfast comes quicker," she tweeted.
While Preston Towers drew a connection between the tax and former prime minister Paul Keating.
"I suspect the #bacontax is revenge against Keating, due to his love of owning piggeries."
The increase in the rate of the pig slaughter levy will go from $1.35 to $2.25 per head over three years from July 1, budget papers say.
The levy will be increased in three 30 cent tranches.
Australia has one, but I can’t find a US Bacon Tax.
That’d be a truly *just cause* for a revolt, if we did!
Julia Gillard is the Australian Prime Minister and is also the head of the Labor Party. Here I was about to go on an anti-Obama rant about this. I guess I'll just wait five minutes to find something else to express my just outrage over.
This is Australia...My friend in Melbourne just laughed!
I almost went nuts when I first saw it, too. But then I found it was from Australia, so I fried-up 1-lb of thick, smoked ***BACON*** and toasted the Aussies! LOL!
I thought Obama was taxing the 1 percenters in Hollywood, starting with Kevin Bacon.
Ummmm... Bacon is good. Tax is bad.
Bacon tax = jizya dhimmi tax.
