I don’t know about splurging, but I sure toast pretty good when they put me on the barbeque.

I wanted to mention 7 Bridlewreath bushes (Spirea) are in full bloom at the back of our yard. They look spectacular. What a shame it doesn’t last too long.

Zowie, you guys gotta open up a restaurant. At least if I had to pay for it I would have to limit my “splurges.”

Oh, yes, Doc, spirea is beautiful, and as you said, fleeting. Our gardenias and magnolias are blooming, and the smell is a hint of Heaven.

Yeah, I’m like Woody Allen in the sun...I don’t tan, I stroke.

Nice. My backyard has become a hobby and the goal is attractive perennials that bloom for 2 seasons. There's a climbing hydrangea back there which is blooming these beautiful fragile felt like needles. Can't imagine they'll be around for a while unfortunately. Picture from the web...

Have got 6 emerald arborvitaes and a crepe myrtle being put in Friday which will provide nice screening.

As we drive home earlier, we took back roads, and we could smell the flowers. It was a peaceful ride with no traffic. Everything is so green from the recent rain.

Your yard sounds lovely, Doc!

Since we do landscaping, we are ever collecting plants that our customers want to get rid of (I can’t bring myself to discard perfectly good plants!). Our yard is full of all manner of flowers, shrubs and trees. Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we have good weather for tropical-ish plants. We have almost a nursery-quantity of azaleas we have salvaged and many other plants—roses, bananas, lilies, mums, etc.

Hydrangeas are my favorite. I've never tried growing them, but my sister can't get hers to bloom. We have some arborvitaes too in the back of the house, which are getting very big.

Found a picture of Bridlewreath Spirea online. Ours look like this right now but in a few days it will be a memory.

I read that Bridlewreath can grow up to 10 feet tall and 20 feet wide. I’ve seen them grow wild in the countryside, and they’re huge.

What an intro on motherhood and Americana!

How the culture has fallen.

Yes, indeed! Her voice was rich, full, smooth, sweet and deep--like chocolate with cream and silk when she sang.
