(Chinese Bluegrass (REDGRASS): Red Chamber 紅庭, Jaybirds)

A very nice mix of Bluegrass (banjo and guitar included) with Oriental instruments :)

Give it a listen, you may be surprised :)

It was by accident I happened across this.. was looking for some pick me up Bluegrass music (stuff my dad used to sing to me when I was very young). Something to bring back the simpler times...

It is instrumental, no voice.. but it was a 'pick me up' when I heard it (vid is low quality).

Ping... Sorry, not sure who likes Bluegrass... if there is a Bluegrass pinglist, please ping them :)

My music taste is very wide.. don’t like (c)rap though..

Favorite is Classical, Bluegrass, R&R (50s-60s) and lots of 70s and 80s Rock... much beyond that too.. but it gets more specific.

The reason I made this post/thread... We need some positive motivation. Not much positive ANYTHING recently :/

Thanks for that link! Awesome! Sent it to my husband to share with his bluegrass band. Oh, and if you find there’s a bluegrass ping list, let me know!

That........was GREAT!!!! Some SERIOUS pickin’ ‘n’ grinnin’ going on there.

I’ve longed believed that music, more than ANYthing else, can and does bring people of all stripes, all colors, all creeds together across vast cultural divides. It truly is the universal language.

Great post. Loved it.

Will do... also, likewise.. if you find a Bluegrass ping-list, ask them to put me on it. It was the best way my pop (God Bless his soul) could let out his emotions and pass on his past.

I wish I could pick at a banjo like my dad did.. could never figure out the 5 string though :p
Can play semi-decent on a 6 string.. well, I play several instruments.. but I could never play what they did back then (depression). Then again, I could never get close to Bach nor Beethoven either :D

I DO make music when I have free time now, but it is all ‘electronic’.. I would record with me playing trumpet IF I had a full group together now, but that would never happen :p

Anyway, try to keep positive, as well as those around you :)

As a fledgling uke player, after a hard day at the office, I find playing the uke when I get home is a great 'de-stresser.'

I like Bluegrass

have a load of Doc Watson cds...some Flat and Scruggs tunes, plus the ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’ cd from the ‘Dirt band’ and various geniuses from the bluegrass world back in the mid 70s

I also like Rock and Roll, R&B, Rockabilly, Rock (what R&R became in the late 60s or so), Blues, Country, Motown, Soul, Swing, early 20th century Jazz and Classical
there is good music and crap in all these genre.

I do not like modern Jazz(late 40s onward)

and I do not consider Rap music.

I’m a rock guitar slinger of over 40 years. I can melt you with power chords.....but never been a fancy flat-picker like these guys. I admire the skills, even if the style of music hasn’t been my choice through the years.

Same taste (mostly).. although.. what they call country today, I don’T :p

The country I liked was more a Folk type.. after about 1978 (or so), it changed/evolved... don’t like most after that. Rap itself..... I actually like it when it was clean ‘dance’ music (pre-1986).. After that, it went downhill reall fast (don’t think I need to explain... although, the dress ‘style’ today would be considered very ‘gay’ (I say queer or FAG) :p

R&B lost me when ‘racism’ came into play... there are exceptions, but rare. Same with Jazz...

That was great, thank you!

I like Bluegrass; some of my mother's family played, one uncle made his own banjos. All deceased now, unfortunately, and I have no musical talent myself. I like old country music, I probably heard the Grand Ol' Opry on the radio every Friday and Saturday night of my life, until I was grown. I also like classic rock, Southern rock. It sounds as if we have some similar tastes.

The mixture of music on my iPod most people would probably find to be very odd!
