“Bath Salts” were the way this drug was marketed in convenience stores. The only people that paid any attention to them at first were people in the drug culture. They came in goofy little baggies that didn't give any indication of what they really were. I remember being told that when a store clerk was asked how they were used he pointed up his nose and said “You put them in your tub, man.”

When asked about the danger level of this drug a medical expert said “Take all the worst side effects of pot, liquor, LSD, PCP, Cocaine, and Crystal Meth and put them all in one drug. That's Bath Salts.”

Bangor has had a big problem with Bath Salts. People go really crazy on the stuff. Here is a video of one our locals being rescued off a bridge under the influence. Our local sporting goods store ran an ad campaign last fall on back school pepper spray to protect young women from predators on bath salts.

Was this guy at the festival? Did he buy any drugs there? Maybe he did, maybe not...but NO ONE in the media is asking.

All the Miami media can do is pretend “only” 228 arrests over the weekend is an improvement and shows just how civilized the “urban music” crowd is...

PCP is phencyclidine, C17H25N, typically used as an animal tranquilizer, but also widely (and illegally) used in several forms as an hallucinogen, which has the temporary effect in most humans of removing fear and thus decreasing inhibiti ons in what would be otherwise risk situations.

"Acid" is lysergic acid diethylamide, usually the variant "25", which is derived from naturally occurring mold called 'ergot' on the grain rye. CIA experiments dating from the 1950s have demonstrated quite thoroughly that the use of LSD-25 (or many of its variants) can induce either pleasant hallucinations or a marked state of paranoia, or some gradation in between. Chemically impure LSD-25 is EXTREMELY dangerous and has been proven to be fatal many times, perhaps most infamously at the Woodstock concert, where even the PA announcers repeated the message "Don't eat the brown acid!" (one possible preparation)

Yep, I believe it. I work as an RN in a hospital that serves as as the “county” hospital in our city. We basically get all the traumas and indigents and arrested folks suffering form acute incarceritis (meaning now that they’re under arrest they suddenly have chest pain). We have also had a few bath salt users. One was quite memorable. I couldn’t believe how much it took to put this man down, and I’ve seen a whole lot of crazy having worked in psych and then in emergency room. I can’t even say what this guy did because it’s unprintable. I’ll just say he was completely naked and did things that he will (hopefully) regret the rest of his life. He was way stronger than he should have been, and did not self-protect (didn’t hold back to prevent himself from getting harmed). He acted as if he didn’t even see, hear or feel us at any point, and he simply went from that to asleep after way more drugs than we would use for a moderate sedation to reduce a broken or dislocated limb. Bath Salts are crazy stuff, folks. After seeing what I’ve seen, as soon as I heard about the “zombie attack” my first suspicion was bath salts.

It’s not actually something one would use for bathing, that’s just a name, possibly related to how it’s sold online to evade regulation. While it’s compared to LSD, it affects people more like PCP in that they are strong and feel nothing and can’t be controlled except with extreme measures.
