In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

ventose \VEN-tohs\, adjective
Given to empty talk; windy.

Example sentences:
Anyhow, it is better to wind up that way than to go growling out one's existence as a ventose hypochondriac.
-- Thomas Henry Huxley, Life and Letters of Thomas Henry Huxley

The ventose orator was confounded, and put himself and his glass down together.
-- L. J. Bigelow, Bench and Bar

Etymology:
First used in English in the 1700s, ventose is derived from the Latin word for wind, "vent."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

The Narcissist-in-Chief, who has never taken up arms for this Nation, embodies all the attributes of a miles gloriosus: arrogant, ventose and maladroit.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The ventose spokespeople representing what passes for "liberal" thinking on Fox News Channel make me sick: Beckel, Colmes, Holder, Ratner, et al. I can no longer watch them.

Ventose.

This ventose was part of our high school class motto:

“They came, they spoke, we slept. Ventose, verbose, comatose”.
