Football as it should be played.

If you can’t deal with 10 below with wind chill making it 25 below, stay home and let the hardcore enjoy themselves.

Good, that’s football weather. Dome should be outlawed.

What? This is going to be the consolation prize for losing the Olympic bid?

Some one should bring back that (instant classic) CNN black dude's incredulous “Chicago lost?” video.

2013 - New Orleans
2014 - New York (Jersey?)
2015 - Phoenix

Two years ago, Kansas City updated Arrowhead Stadium (Chiefs). One option on the table was the issue of a roof...we were told no roof = no superbowl in the future.

Well, the voters decided against a roof (which I agree with - play outside!)

But now, New York gets a superbowl without a roof?

And Chicago may be next?

I understand Kansas City isn’t the biggest city in the world, or a popular vacation hot spot...but neither are Jacksonville or Detroit.

...and now by some coincidence, Chicago gets a superbowl? With the smallest stadium in the NFL? Outdoors in a colder climate than Kansas City?

I can’t picture the First Girlie-man sitting on the 50 yard line in February.

Chicago hasn’t gotten it yet, he said IF it works in New York there are possibilities. Ever since the rain bowl in Miami I think they fear bad weather less, unless NY is a disastrous snow hell. How much has KC been pushing for it? You gotta market, too many places want the SB, if you don’t beg they ain’t coming.

Dome should be outlawed.

I agree from a purist football standpoint, that's correct. But if you're going to tap the taxpayers for a sh!tload of funding for a stadium in a northern climate (like here in Indianapolis) the ability to use the dome for events in all weather (conventions, concerts, etc) is an overriding consideration IMHO.

The climate controlled stadium allows for a lot of events year round, including the NCAA final four basketball and conventions for groups like fire truck manufacturers.

“How much has KC been pushing for it?”

From Wikipedia - “Before the bond election, the NFL awarded the 49th Super Bowl in 2015 to Kansas City provided it have a climate controlled stadium.”

But the voters said nope, no roof...so, the way the NFL looks at it, the people of Missouri didn’t keep their end of the deal.

The NFL has to follow through on their threat, or nobody else will take future threats seriously. I’d say we are ‘out’ for at least a decade, before even being considered again.
