Marco Rubio Qualifications
Vanity | Vanity

Posted on 06/20/2012 6:24:17 AM PDT by wolfman23601

Let's put eligibility and the usual arguments aside for this thread. What makes Marco Rubio qualified to be president? Looking at his biography, he has never run anything or worked a day of his life in the private sector. Other than being Cuban and having good hair, how is this man anymore qualified than Obama was in 2008? Let's not make this mistake again. Hopefully Romney, who is qualified, though I disagree with his politics, makes the right decision and picks someone who knows what he/she is doing to take over if he drops dead.

While I like Rubio and hope he can be a strong conservative voice in the Senate, since his parents were not citizens when he was born here, he is NOT “natural born”, and thus not qualified to hold the office of President.

For a thorough discussion of the legal history of “natural born”, see:

The Dirty “little” Secret Of The Natural Born Citizen Clause Revealed.

I have emphasized the word “little” because the truth of the law on this issue is very simple, folks. So simple that the mystery is deciphered by application of one of the most clear, concise and undeniable rules of law; the code of statutory construction governs, and therefore, “natural born Citizen” must require something more than being born in the United States.

Let me put it to you in appropriately simple language:

Clause A = “Only a natural born Citizen may be President.”

Clause B = “Anyone born in the United States is a Citizen.”

(While these two clauses reflect Article 2, Section 1, and the 14th Amendment, I shall refer to them as “Clause A” and “Clause B” for now.)

For the sake of argument. I don’t think anyone here hasn’t heard the eligibility argument.

BTW, does “Rubio” translate to “Rube” in English?

I honestly don't know but I think it should be a FreeRepublic rule.

Newt would be to Romney what Cheney was to Bush. I think it would work well.

Conservatives consist of three major groups: social, economic and national defense.

Huck is great with only one of the three. Club for Growth has panned his tax raising economic policies. His fondness for illegal aliens also makes him poor on national defense issues. We can do a LOT better.

We need to keep our eyes on the objective. It is ESSENTIAL for the SURVIVAL of America AND WESTERN CIVILIZATION, that the Marxist, Muslim in the White House is defeated and his damage undone.

Romney is far from the ideal solution, but he is far better than having Obama in there for another four years. If he remains, he will remake SCOTUS along the lines of the Warren Court, and even worse.

Rubio is a rock solid conservative, an intelligent guy and he IS Hispanic.

Obama pulled this stunt in order to try and pry enough Hispanic voters who may be sitting on the fence or only luke warm to Romney, into his camp.

Having Rubio as a VP will not only strenghthen the conservative voice in Romney’s Administration, it will get some of those needed votes.

At all accounts, this is going to be a close election and a campaign against an unprinicipled, vicious Chicago street fighter who knows how to play dirty politics, use the power of the incumbency, and marshall mainstream media and the Hollywood eleites to his side.

We need comprehensive immigration reform. We need to close our borders to illegals in the future by taking draconian steps like putting out of businesses those companies which knowingly hire and recruit illegals, PENALIZING those countries - LIKE MEXICO - who are complicit in the violation of our immigration laws, FORBIDDING the use of our social support system and educational establishment to illegals, and dealing QUICKLY with those illegals who come here.

BUT, at the same time we need to be realistic about some things. The reproductive rate among native Americans has fallen so low that it is a threat to our economic life and military security. We need more legal immigrants who want to become prodcutive American citizens - people with a work ethic, not immigrants from countries in western Europe who support the kind of nanny-government socialist, Islamophilic establishments that exist in Britain, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, etc.

That leaves Non-Muslim Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.

It is neither reasonable nor fair to believe that we can or should extradite from America young people who knew no environment other than America, who, in many cases, speak English only or English as their primary language, and who regard themselves as Americans and who WANT to be considered Americans, back to some country they have no familiarity with just to punish their parents. We need SOME way to deal with them in such a manner as to provide an expedited road to citizenship.

THAT is a humane and politically SMART way to handle this and WE as Republicans and Conservatives should make sure it done by US, and WE reap the political benefits, NOT the
Marxist Muslim and his leftist comrades.

I agree completely. Let him do a stint as Florida’s Governor before bestowing Presidential honors on him.

What makes Marco Rubio qualified to be president?

Short answer: He's not. Those that idolize him do so because he is telegenic, somewhat well spoken and may bring in some hispanic voters. He has no other qualifications, however these do rival those of a senator from Illinois about four years ago, and we all have seen that disaster!

Hey he's a "Community Organizer", what more do we need?

Big deal! So is my cat’s.

No to Rubio. I have been suspicious of his views on illegal aliens, and, after reading his opinion piece posted here yesterday, my mind is thoroughly made up.

I can’t “put eligibility aside”.

Eligibility is not a factor. Obama's election and remaining in office has set a precedent that constitutional eligibility does not have to be met.

Judge his qualifications under the current rule.

State legislator.

Less than one term as a US Senator.

No military experience.

No private sector experience.

Speaks well, looks nice.

Overqualified.

Just on the face of it, the claim that one who has been a US legislator since the 70’s is somehow the face of “not politics as usual,” stretches credulity. How did he keep getting re-elected if not through politics? And if it was through the practice of politics, how could it not have been politics as usual, as he kept getting re-elected over and over, as usual?

Supporting Paul is fine. Doing it based on delusional reasoning trivializes him.

I disagree: he sounds like just another politician to me, using conservative-speak in a slick way, but I don’t find myself convinced. He’s never worked outside of government, and uses manipulative family-values catch-words to push the amnesty agenda incrementally. Do we really need another slick-talking Trojan horse politician?

Even if Rubio was a natural born citizen and eligible to run for President which he isn’t he still has not got the experience and maturity to be the leader of the free world.

M. Rubio's agenda re illegal aliens reveals he is no Conservative and does not put the interests of America over those of other countries. I see nothing special about him. The Hispanics did not support J. McCain in spite of his outlandish pandering and they will not come out for M. Romney, Rubio or no Rubio.

Rubio is overrated. I see nothing impressive about him. He is no Sarah Palin.

“Newt would be to Romney what Cheney was to Bush. I think it would work well.”

The problem is that Romney’s slash and burn campaign style precludes many from trusting Romney. Sarah Palin won’t even speak his name, even after the 4 years passing since Romney surrogates weilded their backstabbing knives. Romney is the antithesis of political trustworthyness.

Romney will be hard pressed to find any legitimate candidate running mate willing to submitt themselves to potential Romney’s treachery.

I don’t blame them considering Romney’s track record in this and other areas of import.

Newt and Romney???? Never happen. Take that to the bank.

I’m not so sure you can count Newt out. If offered I think he would accept. Why wouldn’t he? The question is, is Romney smart enough to offer it to him? I think the answer is maybe.
