Romney will probably go with someone whose record is acceptable to social conservatives but who isn't primarily known as a social conservative. Maybe Portman qualifies. Santorum doesn't.

I have said here before that candidates have to "inspire" voters. Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton, Obama all "inspired" voters. Now I will give you that the top of the ticket should be the inspiration. However, when the top of the ticket fails to inspire [ala McCain], the second person needs to bring some inspiration. Voters need to really love or hate a candidate to get up and vote. "Liking" a candidate is bad. I LOVED Reagan, I HATED Clinton and Obama. I had passion when I voted in those elections. I have never missed an election. But, what about others? I don't get the sense that people are inspired by Romney and that Rubio would add some of the inspiration. I don't get that feeling about Pawlenty. Picking Pawlenty is like picking Biden. He was the second loser in the primary. Is it me, or are other feeling the same way?
Tell me, Rubio, Kasich, and you have my attention.
