Help with 501c's - Vanity
USPS | 7/06/12 | me

My parents are donating daily to these people. My father has Parkinson's & is SO worried about 0bama ruining the country that he donates to nearly everything he gets. Fortunately, my Mom gives the mail to me and I select (with her approval) which ones are forwarded, saving them a pile of money & more mail that is caused by each donation. Today I have FOURTEEN of them!

Why not just post the list of non-profits you want to know more about. Maybe someone can help.

The Boy Scouts of America is pretty big, and it’s been around for over a century.

Who are they “in it for”?

Back in the early 1990's, my boss put heavy pressure on me to have an amount of my paycheck deducted for the United Way. I asked her, "how do I know where my money is going?" She ignored me, and got pissed-off when I finally asked her, "are you getting some sort of a spiff (kickback) for this?"

Then the Aramony scandal hit, and I didn't rub her snout in it because I wanted to keep my job. I should've done it, she was a pig.

I mailed a few at lunch. One from the Minutemen and another I forget the name of. The rest are listed below, in no particular order. The ones with asterisks are especially rabid with their mailings and sell their name to other lists. I know this because they made an odd typo in Dad's address that appears on mailings from new senders:

Council of Seniors*
American Civil Rights Union
Second Ammendment Foundation
National Tax Limitation Committee
Citizens United for American Soveriegnty
Social Security Institute
Frontiers of Freedom
Senior Citizens League
American Conservatives Union
Senior Security Alliance Benefit Security Coalition*
Freedom's Defense Fund
Christian Voice
The Conservative Caucus

I even wrote letters 'from Dad' asking them to stop their requests after the postmaster told me they had to honor such a request by law. It did nothing. I suppose I need to do this again with a certified letter.

I don't think this is what you're looking for, but if you would permit me to go off on a tangent for a moment, personally I give cash, anonymously, and tell that to all who call or write. I keep a few larger bills in my wallet and they find their way into the Salvation Army kettle, fireman's boots when they collect for widows and orphans, and they purchase a paper poppy on Memorial Day.
