One reason to vote for Romney

Posted on 07/10/2012 3:25:49 PM PDT by conservativesister

There's more than voting for Romney at stake. If Mitt wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will support his candidacy. For those who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court, in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters who wins this election, think again!

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win, just imagine this possibility:

'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'

Did that get your attention? I sure hope so!!!

I predict that many people who were convinced they would not vote for Romney will realize that their hatred of Obama’s policies far exceeds their dislike of Romney.

It is still (very) early.

Give our side time to blow off a lot of steam.

And nominate a running mate...

We are so screwed. We will get justices like Holder from 0bama or justices like Roberts and Souter from Romney. I hate to even think about it.

And we were warned about Kerry in 2004 on this same issue.

How did that work out for conservatives?

That alone sums up the sad state we are in.

In 1980 I voted FOR Reagan. Ever since I’ve been voting against the Dem.

Sad what is left of his legacy when it comes to leadership with a spine.

The only reason to vote for Romney is a willingness to accept a liberal president and liberal presidential appointees and it has become more comfortable to support GOP liberals than to support Democrat liberals.

I’ll tell you what:

Climb on board at some point, with Romney.

Once he picks a VP. Whatever it is, which you wait for.

Climb on board and VOTE for the GOP.

Then from the very first day, after electing him to the job. FOCUS on nominating Mrs. Palin to replace him.

How’s that for a plan?

Probe: Mitt missed chance to keep Tavares jailed - Could have nixed killer’s early exit

Friday, December 28, 2007 - Boston Herald
"Former Gov. Mitt Romney’s administration failed to act on disciplinary recommendations
that would have kept ex-con killer Daniel Tavares locked up another year -
and behind bars at the time he was accused of killing a newlywed couple in Washington state."

"Despite Tavares’ long history of violence, the Romney-led Department of Correction
took no action on recommendations that he be stripped of “good time” because
of assaults on prison guards in 2003 and 2005, said sources familiar with a state probe into the case."

Once again as Romney let conservatism slide (never had it anyway)
Romney made certain that they died.

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."
- Boston Globe 7/25/2005

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

So sad. So true.

I wish we had someone to vote for.

I so wish Newt didn't go to the dark side.

The good thing is the Tea Party is raising a crop of real conservatives who will step up. If we survive that long.

As I pointed out in #7, I quit voting FOR the GOP after Reagan. Okay, was somewhat enthused for Bush in 1988 but I didn’t like “kinder, gentler” talk.

I now only vote against Dems.

I’m sure Mitt will pick a slam dunk VP! /sarc It will be the most boring white guy he can find that will probably make Biden look like Einstein in a debate! Cynical? You bet.

I’m not sure Palin is ready for the office. She has time.

Have you looked at Romney's record for appointing judges at the state level?

A year ago I would have been able to say "John Roberts" would certainly not be on his list.

Given the 2010 Tea Party blow-out resulting in the take-over of the House and how much Obama has pushed the envelope since then without restraint perhaps we need to stop and take another look at our own definition of what "Conservative" is before we start bashing others who are not even elected for the office they run.

John Boehner needs to go for one. Replace him with Allen West. That for starters.

We conservatives fought hard for control of the House and this is what we get?

I take it you think we need more “conservatives” like those we put in the House in 2010, huh?

Another strong reason to support and vote for Willard is National Defense.

All throughout the debates, Romney remained committed to strong defense; and, he knows the bad guys from the good guys.

Baraq's BFF (Bill Ayers) must be pleased and proud of how Baraq worked so steadfastly to weaken our defense capability.

As a Vet (with two grown "kids" in uniform), National Defense is a key issue with me; and, the difference between Mitt and Baraq on defense is day and night.

Here's another list to consider:

President Barack Hussein Obama is certainly a President of firsts. Here's a fairly comprehensive list: (Read them and weep for our nation)

Yep...this is the list of "1st"s this President, Barack Hussein Obama, has accomplished in his first four years.

AMERICA CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF "FIRSTS" BY THIS PRESIDENT.

Well that is where we part company - we are of different opinions about how this is likely to play out.

In my opinion, Romney needs all the help he can get. Every morsel.

Right now he has lots of big money behind him, but (very) little enthusiasm.

I say he takes in more, and more support. But hitches his wagon firmly and without question to the one horse which can bring him true enthusiasm.

Palin.

That is just me though.

:)

So What

Any vote cast for anyone but Willard is a vote cast for Zero

That is where we are... Obama MUST BE defeated ... and decisively
