Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico, talking about our current problems and advocates American solutions.
Thought you guys might like this interview, posted on Youtube on 02 Jul 12.
bleeeech. No thanks. If I had wanted to vote for this libertarian yahoonI could have done so in the primary
Why would we be interested in this liberal moron?
Gary will probably get my vote in the general election. I only vote for strict-constructionist conservatives anymore. The calluses on my nose need a chance to heal.
You obviously don't know much about him.
Question: Did either of you watch the interview?
Question: Which part(s) do you say made him a liberal? Which a libertarian?
Followup #1: Is "libertarian" a bad thing? Is "Liberal" (classic, not co-opted modern, sense)?
Followup #2: How is Mitt Romney in any way at all a better candidate?
I know that Johnson is no true libertarian. He wants a FEDERAL MANDATE upholding "gay marriage" - regardless of what states want to do. I guess he has the 10th amendment printed on his toilet paper. In addition, he wants amnesty for illegal aliens, and open borders - despite libertarian icon Milton Friedman's warning that you cannot have open borders with a welfare state. His focus on our border as just being about workers shows a fundamental ignorance of the growing terrorist threat across those borders. Johnson clearly has enjoyed far too many bong hits. Any FReeper who pulls the lever for him needs their head examined.
Having watched the video:I see he is for open borders, murdering children, smoking dope
I supported Gary as Governor, and would have supported him had he won the Republican nomination, but beating Obama is priority one, and voting for Gary isn’t going to help that cause.
Open borders = Making sure those aliens who are here are here legitimately? He was right about the infeasibility of building a wall/fence and about permanently stationing/patrolling the border especially in light of our financial problems.
I'll make no excuses for abortion; however, let me ask who is responsible for declaring abortion kosher? And what would happen if the President tried to go against that organization? (Congress makes the laws, not the President; ironically abortion became kosher due to actions by neither of those. Lay the blame properly.)
As to smoking dope, I should think it fairly obvious by now that the only losers in the War on Drugs is the Citizenry. Look at the 4th Amendment. Look at the taxes used to incarcerate drug criminals. Look at the mentality spawned in Law Enforcement Officers. Finally, look at the 18th and 21th Amendments and tell me how the Federal government can legitimately police some drug when they had to pass an amendment to do so with respect to alcohol.
That's funny; I didn't say anything about electing him.
I just posted a video about him touting American solutions to America's problems.
Yeah, the funny thing about these threads is that people read them, and post to the person who starts them, while really posting to everyone. My apologies.
Not a problem; just a little odd, considering the video itself is about solutions to American problems (irrespective of who is president, it's general enough).
Gary Johnson, never heared ofn him afor. not much to look at, only fair to midlen delivery skills, spot on political savy. A breath of fresh air. Ifn there’s a ping on GJ, please add Rab. Thanks for suer OWShark.
Raben
when johnson was govenor of NM, he went all over the US saying legalize drugs.
And we couldn’t hike down the canyon along the stream near our home, because we had been warned the house downstream was owned by one of the biggest drug lords in Mexico.
Coincidence? Or just he was bribing the guv?
But....but....we were told legalizing drugs would get rid of the drug lords.
I dunno.
I do know that the War on Drugs is illegitimate; nothing in the Constitution allows the sort of policing of substances that the feds use, despite what judges say. (Wicard, Raich, etc.)
The US had to pass an amendment to exercise that sort of control on alcohol (18th Amd), it was repealed, and nothing was passed to allow similar with these other "controlled substances".
I'm not sating this because I'm a pothead, I don't even like the smell, but because I'm a programmer and like my "globals", "constants", & "assertions" to be just that. If the FedGov can do this with respect to drugs then what can't it do with respect to anything we buy/do/sell?
Having been involved with the Libertarian Party
at the State level for a number of years,
I have concluded that they are anarchists
who wrap themselves in the constitution.Anarchists none the less.
If the FedGov can do this with respect to drugs then what can’t it do with respect to anything we buy/do/sell?
