My thought is certain recreational drugs, such as marijuana, should remain off legal limits for the under 18 year olds, but become legally available when used in the proper environment. In many ways, pot is quite similar to alcohol, in that they should be used responsibly. My thought is to make the sale of marijuana less profitable by making it legal for home use. Personally, I don't smoke anything now, and do not want the smell of tobacco or pot on my clothes should I visit a public place, such as a shopping mall or bus stop. I know this...

CBC out of Canada reports unnamed Syrian officials speaking to the Associated Press denying the use of chemical weapons against foreign jihadist 'rebels' within the country that seemed to surface yesterday and that were repeated by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. The report also quotes a Syrian lawmaker Sharif Shehadeh:Shehadeh called the U.S. claims "lies" and likened them to false accusations that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction — a claim U.S. policymakers had used to justify the invasion of that country in 2003."What is being designed for Syria now is similar to what happened in Iraq when Colin Powell lied in...

The Senate's bipartisan "Gang of Eight" oozed confidence on Thursday that they could deliver on their promise to pass the most significant immigration bill in a generation. Organizers gathered over 20 leaders from business, labor, religious and civil rights groups in order to display broad support for their plan. In an unlikely pairing, renowned anti-tax activist Grover Norquist stood alongside AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, the leader of the nation's largest labor coalition. Senators from both parties yukked it up with jokes throughout the hour-long affair. "We'll oppose only those amendments that are intended to prevent a comprehensive solution from passing,"...

The modern day tea party movement took shape in 2007. Yet, it is hardly a reflection of the anti-war, anti-deficit, pro-civil liberty message that propelled its early popularity. During a time of impending recession, a government that had taken us to endless wars on false pretenses, and an unprecedented expansion of government under eight years of “conservative” leadership, the tea party began as a fundraising rally cry for a then relatively unknown dark horse candidate, Representative Ron Paul. The first “modern day tea party” was held on the anniversary of the original Boston Tea Party, December 16, 2007. In a...

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul’s vote to temporarily block Chuck Hagel’s nomination for secretary of defense elicited blowback from an unlikely source: antiwar conservatives and libertarians, many of them supporters of his father’s GOP presidential campaign. Paul, the son of former Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, joined all but four Republican senators Thursday in voting against a motion to end debate over Hagel’s nomination. GOP leaders are saying that they will not filibuster Hagel indefinitely, but instead want to delay a vote until they have more information about his speeches and finances. “That is also why I voted to not...

There is much to commend, and there are some things to question, about Rand Paul’s big foreign policy speech yesterday at Heritage Foundation. The overall idea of using George Kennan-like “containment” for Iran or for jihadist Islam in general is, well, problematic , although there are plenty of elements of his speech that are at least somewhat sensible. It is a good thing to have discussion of such issues, and there is much value in having people make a thoughtful case against over-eagerness for military intervention. Those of us who tend a little more towards interventionism (”tend” being the key...

haven’t seen anyone ask this yet, so I will: did the Ron Paul Revolution stay home last night? Mitt Romney won 3 million votes less than McCain while Obama lost 10 million votes of his own from 2008. Where did those 3 million McCain voters go? The main part of why I believed Romney would win this time because I knew the 10 million Obama supporters would sit home…but never in my worst nightmares did I imagine McCain voters would sit home. I counted on them to show up and bring friends this time to boot Obama out. The only...

Texas Republican congressman Ron Paul pointedly refused to endorse his party's presidential contender, Mitt Romney, arguing that neither he nor President Barack Obama would make necessary cuts to public spending that would avert a fiscal catastrophe. "No," the iconoclastic Libertarian bluntly told CNBC’s "Futures Now," when asked about whether he was prepared to endorse Romney. He accused both the former Massachusetts governor and the president of being captive to similar interests.

At least three Republican electors say they may not support their party’s presidential ticket when the Electoral College meets in December to formally elect the next president, escalating tensions within the GOP and adding a fresh layer of intrigue to the final weeks of the White House race. The electors — all supporters of former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul — told The Associated Press they are exploring options should Mitt Romney win their states. They expressed frustration at how Republican leaders have worked to suppress Paul’s conservative movement and his legion of loyal supporters. “They’ve never given Ron Paul...

The women’s antiwar group CodePink was behind the disruption of Representative Paul D. Ryan’s speech on Wednesday night, but it was in part a product of the Romney campaign’s continuing dispute with Ron Paul supporters. “An angry Ron Paul person was like, here, take my pass,” said Laura Mills, the 21-year-old CodePink intern who was escorted out of the Tampa Bay Times Forum after interrupting Mr. Paul’s speech. Ms. Mills and a more seasoned activist, Ann Wright, were just waiting for Mr. Ryan to say something about health care. When he did, they yelled, “Health care, not warfare” and “My...

The Convention is where delegates are meant to cast votes for the nominee, yet the Tampa Bay Times Forum was already plastered with embedded Romney banners, and additional 'Mitt' signs for people to hold were also smuggled in to make it appear that many are behind him. All Ron Paul material was promptly confiscated. Six states filed to put Ron Paul into nomination while the rules still said it only took five states. Realizing this, the RNC met early Tuesday morning to change the rules in order to make the minimum needed as eight states, which Ron also would have...

TAMPA, FLA. — A group of protesters from the women's rights group Code Pink interrupted Mitt Romney's speech at the Republican National Convention tonight. That the protesters were able to obtain credentials to the convention — let alone one that enabled them to get so close to the stage — and that they were able to sneak in huge pink signs is actually a pretty incredible feat given the level of security at the Republican convention.

TAMPA -- Mitt Romney's presidential campaign gave Texas Rep. Ron Paul a chance to speak at the Republican National Convention, but he declined due to the conditions of the offer, the New York Times reports: Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined. "It wouldn't be my speech," Mr. Paul said. "That would undo everything I've done in the last 30 years. I don't fully endorse him for president."

TAMPA -- He lost the Ames straw poll by a whisker, he peaked too early in Iowa's caucuses, he missed the big headlines by not winning Maine's preference poll. Finally, today, Ron Paul came into some luck. The threat of Hurricane Isaac was scrapping the first day of the Republican National Convention. Reporters who had planned to preview day one were screwed. Editors suddenly remembered that Ron Paul was supposed to do something or other. And off they went to the Sun Dome, the arena at Southern Florida University, where 7000-odd people would join the "We Are the Future Rally."...

Mitt Romney will not be on the ballot in Washington State, if a lawsuit from the Libertarian party succeeds. Citing a legal technicality which disqualifies the republican party from being considered a “major party” due to its failure to get a senate candidate on the ballot in 2010, libertarians appear to have the law on their side which would disqualify the republican party from being able to place its candidate on state ballots in November. That would remove Romney from the ballot, which would still allow his supporters to write in his name but would likely suppress the number of...

Ron Paul cooperates with no one, checks his voice for no one and doesn't much like the GOP establishment types. This would include the GOP's likely nominee, Mitt Romney, template maker in Massachusetts for all things nefarious accomplished by Barack Hussein Obama but brought to a national audience. Paul has declined to endorse Romney, but given the army of organized pitchforks he has attracted over the course of a run or two at the party nomination, the man has won a seat at the convention table. USATODAY.com reports that room will be made for Ron Paul in the convention, and...

Local Democrats are in an uproar about a series of emails about Israel, sent last year by one of their representatives to the Democratic National Committee, and a candidate for state representative. In the emails, Evelyn Garcia, one of Palm Beach County's representatives to the DNC, a Democratic Executive Committee member, and a candidate for State House, District 88, accuses Israel of "crimes against humanity" and of running "mass concentration prison camps". The email exchange began with Garcia forwarding an email by Code Pink, "Time for a New Middle East Policy," which announced a conference opposing President Obama's pandering to...

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran has stored up imports and hard currency for a "battle" against "dastardly" EU sanctions, officials said Sunday, the day that the measures aimed at pressuring the Islamic Republic over its controversial nuclear program take effect. Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said the country has stockpiled the population's daily needs to reduce the impact of the embargo hitting the oil and banking sectors. "Today, we are facing the heaviest of sanctions and we ask people to help officials in this battle," Rahimi was quoted by state television's website as saying at a religious conference. He said...

Ron Paul announced Monday the Texas congressman will not campaign in the states that have yet to vote in the Republican primary. And while Paul insisted that the campaign would continue to amass delegates, the statement -- which referred to the campaign in the past tense... Though the statement is a bit cryptic, it seems to be a message directed mainly at Paul's activist following. The message: Cool it. In recent weeks, Paul supporters have increasingly been making trouble at local Republican Party conventions, even as they've succeeded in gaining delegates in several states. This past weekend, Paul delegates in...

An announcement from Rep. Ron Paul indicates that the Republican presidential candidate will no longer actively campaign for the GOP nomination, but will continue to work to secure delegates at upcoming Republican state conventions. "Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted," said Paul, in a statement released Monday afternoon. "Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have."

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul captured the majority of Nevada’s national delegates early Sunday, overwhelming likely nominee Mitt Romney with an organized contingent who easily took control of the state convention. Paul’s supporters won 22 of the 25 national delegate slots up for election at the state convention in Sparks on Saturday. Romney won three. Another three automatic delegates are expected to support Romney, meaning Romney will have six supporters in the delegation and Paul will have 22.

Despite what you may have heard from the mainstream media, Mitt Romney does not have the Republican nomination locked up. In fact, he is rapidly losing delegates that almost everyone assumed that he already had in the bag. To understand why this is happening, you have to understand the delegate selection process. Each state has different rules for selecting delegates to the Republican national convention, and in many states the "voting" done by the public does not determine the allocation of delegates to particular candidates at all. And the truth is that delegates are the only thing that really matters...

RNC might block entire Nevada delegation over Ron Paul delegate mischiefBy Justin Sink - 05/03/12 08:53 AM ET The Republican National Committee is warning the Nevada GOP that if supporters of Ron Paul are allowed to take too many slots for the national convention, the party may opt against seating the state's entire delegation. "I believe it is highly likely that any committee with jurisdiction over the matter would find improper any change to the election, selection, allocation, or binding of delegates, thus jeopardizing the seating of Nevada’s entire delegation to the National Convention," said John R. Phillippe Jr., the...

Sarah Palin admonished Republicans not to ridicule Congressman Ron Paul. Sarah Palin is wrong. Ron Paul is a disloyal phony who has earned whatever contempt real Republicans have for him and his dangerously naive ideas about foreign policy. Ron Paul has shunned the party in the past, as he was the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988 and in 2008 he rejected the McCain/Palin ticket, instead embracing Cynthia McKinney and other third-party candidates for president 2008. Like a kid who is losing a game, Ron Paul took his ball and went home in 2008. But Missus Palin, sadly, seemed to be...

Ron Paul's greatest liability is Ron Paul, but his second greatest liability are his hippie-Nazi cultists. Not all of his supporters are hippie Nazis, but the aggressive ones are. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul picked up an endorsement from popular South Carolina State Senator Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) Sunday. Mr. Davis is a popular Tea Party Republican in South Carolina, and he has been critical of front running Republican candidate Mitt Romney also, so his vote could sway some last minute undecided voters towards Mr. Paul in the upcoming South Carolina Republican primary election. According to the Public Polling Policy poll of South Carolina voters released Friday shows 30 percent of the voters identify themselves as members of the Tea Party. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich did the best among...

Ron Paul picked up a major endorsement from an evangelical leader when Dr. James Linzey, president and founder of the Military Bible Association, endorsed the candidate. Lizney, who served as a military chaplain for over 24 years and retired with an honorable discharge, has hosted Operation Freedom, a television program in Europe. Before founding the Military bible Association, he travelled the world as an evangelist. In a statement to Congressman Paul declaring his endorsement, Lizney said, “Having thoroughly examined your political philosophy and finding that your platform is 100% in line with the Constitution of the United States of America,...

Even though he was defeated in every primary and caucus, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) is still claiming he will win several states because of delegate support. The Paul campaign is now predicting victory in Minnesota and Maine, and says he is close to victory in Iowa, Nevada, Colorado, Alaska, Georgia, North Dakota and Missouri. The Paul team is highly organized and his claims should not be dismissed. In Taney County, Missouri, the results of the February 7th election were Santorum 58%, Romney 23% and Paul 11.5%. The result was reversed on March 17th when the Texan won 100% of the...

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul reportedly won the U.S. Virgin Island caucuses Saturday, although it was reported rival Mitt Romney secured the victory. According to the U.S. Virgin Islands’ Republican Party results, Mr. Paul won with 29 percent of the votes, followed by Mr. Romney at 26 percent. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum placed in third with six percent, followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at three percent of the votes. In contrast, The Associated Press and several other major media outlets reported Mr. Romney as the winner of the Virgin Island caucuses, because he actually comes away from...

Some of my regular readers will wonder why I'm wasting my time with Ron Paul. After all, ol' RuPaul is nothing but a piker, and our eyes should be on the prize--- the White House in 2012. This would be a fair assessment----if one only looks at the small picture. I am fighting for the soul of the Conservative Movement. I'm heading off RuPaul and his cyberstormtroopers at the pass before they irrevocably damage the Movement. If the Conservative Movement is destroyed, all hope is lost. The Republic will not survive. It's that simple. It's that cut and dried.

Ron Paul, who has consistently engaged in anti-Semitic nonsense over the course of the past few decades, has largely attempted to hide his anti-Semitism throughout his campaign. No longer. Ron Paul has issued this Arabic-language flyer outside the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, Michigan:The flyer actually has two sides. The English side promotes Paul’s “Plan to Restore America” and touts his deficit cutting prowess and dislike of the Federal Reserve. The Arabic side, however – the side shown above – is far less subtle. It says that Paul will cut foreign aid, and specifically mentions only foreign aid to...

Weekly calls between the Paul and Romney campaigns This entire stream, uploaded this Thursday from Mark Levin, is very important, but be sure to catch what he plays at the 7:04 mark. Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, launched his “South Carolina” money bomb Saturday. The “South Carolina” money bomb is the latest in a series of money bombs that have raised funds for campaign events and ad buys in the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Although Mr. Paul has not set a fundraising goal for the “South Carolina” money bomb, the Texas congressman has hauled in more than $160,000 as of 9am EDT Saturday. Mr. Paul’s most recent money bomb, the “Tea Party” money bomb, had a fundraising goal of $4...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I did not have cable TV on last night. I didn't. I was reading. I watched a couple of movies, but I did not have the TV on last night. (laughing) I take it back. One clarification. I did turn on Fox at about 7:55pm 'cause I wanted to hear O'Reilly read the e-mail. That's my favorite part of his show. And O'Reilly wasn't on. They were doing coverage from New Hampshire, and they were proclaiming Romney the victor. It was over. So Romney had his seven electoral votes. Okay, the only thing that interests me now...
