A gardener who carved a giant bush into a hand displaying a rude gesture has been ordered to remove it after being accused of committing a public order offence.

Richard Jackson has displayed the offending topiary, which shows the middle-finger sign, in his garden for the last eight years.

The 53-year-old has now been told by the council to alter it after a neighbour complained, but he has refused to comply.

My first thought upon seeing the squiggley one was of an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen which was about to fall over. Then I decided if I did the squiggley and the hand it would be to tell the world what I think about those new light bulbs.

Growing up in my household one wasn’t allowed to think or say words ever associated with the world of turds and I think over my lifespan calling someone a turd is a relatively new term.
