SEATTLE (AP) -- The New York Yankees have acquired star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners in a trade for two pitchers.
The Yankees also got cash in the deal that sent right-handers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar to the Mariners.

The rest of the league better watch out if the A’s get any hitters before the deadline.
Yankees playing in Seattle tonight Iciro sits in their dugout now. HAHA
cool
It’s about time....at 37 or 39, he is past his prime and his batting has shown that this year. His speed has also slowed and some of the balls he would have caught in prior years, he can no longer get to. The ride with the Mainers was great and I wish him well....
It’s a great deal!
Swisher is day to day and Gardner isn’t coming back this season so a little OF help is much appreciated.
There won’t be any contract issues since Ichiro is an FA next year and even though he’s off by quite a bit at the plate right now putting him into a lineup with some serious bats will probably get him some better pitches to look at.
Solid deal by Cashman.
I’m beginning to think Josh Hamilton is washed up as well, he is just not the same as he was at the beginning of the year, and it’s just not a normal slump...I think all of the substances he’s taken have over the years have finally caught up with him. He looked really bad last night against the Angels.
Say it aint’s so, Ichiro......
This is about seven years too late. The team has needs; Ichiro won’t fill them.
Yes, he is slowing down, he is, after all, 38. But he has given many years of wonderful baseball to the Seattle fans. And, believe me, there have been more years than not where he was really the only highlight on that team. The team is now going "young", and his contract was up at the end of this year. I was hoping he would retire, as it is sad to see him deteriorate from the player that I have been watching for years. My husband is of the opinion that he could probably still play in Japan; me -- I'm wishing him well, whereever he ends up -- buy a team, enjoy your life. Thanks.
I didn’t think Ichiro would ever leave Seattle. His best days are behind him but he’s still got some play in him.
The Mariners, victims of arguably the worst choke in baseball history (116 regular-season wins and a humiliating elimination in the first round of postseason play) will remain perennial losers.
It's pretty clear by now that Jack Z, Chuck Armstrong, and Howard Lincoln have no concept of what it takes to field pennant-winning teams.
When the best a team has to offer its fans are "Remember When" videos of their 1995 and 2001 seasons (neither of which culminated in a World Series win), then you can understand why fan loyalty is falling like a rhino off the high dive.
One of the greatest hitters of the era, first ten years in the bigs (after 9 in japan) with 200 hits each year. I wonder if he starts to use the short porch in yankee stadium. He has more than enough power, and he doesn’t beat out as many infield hits as he once did. Still fast though.
