Rapper Ice-T threw a bit of cold water on anti-gun activists during an interview with Krishnan Guru-Murthy on Britain's Channel 4, defending the Second Amendment right to bear arms. (Check out the video below).
"It's legal in the United States. It's part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police," he said Friday, hours after the Aurora, Colo., massacre.
The line of questioning came on the heels of the slaughter when suspected gunman James Holmes opened fire on a packed theater of moviegoers, killing 12 patrons and injuring 58 others.
Ice-T denied there was a link between the availability of guns in the U.S. and the incidence of murder.
"If somebody wants to kill people, you know, they don't need a gun to do it," he said. "You can strap explosives on your body; they do that all the time." Ice-T has spent an entire career embroiled in hot water over the depiction of violence and anti-police stances in his lyrics. The self-declared "Godfather of Gangsta Rap" has not backed away from his past statements.
There is, however, one instance in which he would get rid of his gun.
"I'll give up my gun when everybody else does," he said.

Good for him. I remember meeting him a long time ago, when I worked security at a pretty large venue. Compared to a lot of the other artists I met, I recall him as pretty likeable. I remember that he even helped his band load their equipment, which surprised me.
Nice to hear there are a few ‘normal’ guys left in entertainment. His expression of thought was clear and concise. Refreshing.
My neighbor here in Hollywood still does stage management stuff for 3 of the live venues on the Strip (non union). He has always told me the small bands who travel in a bus are the friendliest to chat with because they can associate with working stiffs like him. The true a-holes are the “popular” bands with roadies, says he..

Actually I stand corrected. He called Rush ‘A racist piece of sh*t’ to be more accurate.
I have been thinking lately that we really need to put the tyranny justification for the right to possess and bear arms out front and center. We need to let the arrogant, dominating bastards who want to destroy our Constitution, control our lives, and take our guns know in no uncertain terms that our guns are not just for sporting and hunting. And, they need to be reminded of it on a daily basis.
It was excellent until the last line where he said something like “You can’ t expect justice when you stole the land” Am I wrong?
The guy gets rich playing a p[olice officer, and he says his gun is to protect him from the police.
He is typical of the Obama voter.I would expect nothing better from him.

Good for Ice T to stand up for gun rights. But, I find it funny when people call Rush racist. Hell, Snerdley is a black man! Still not quite as funny as when liberals call David Webb to claim he has something against blacks.
He went on to say that the push for antigun laws that would come in wake of the Aurora massacre wouldn’t change any legislation in the U.S. because the country was “based on guns.” He also dropped a KRS-One lyric from the Sound of Da Police album, saying: “You’ll never have justice on stolen land.”
Police can work for some situations, but in the end they are still just employees of the government. No government employee will defend you as fervently as you will defend yourself.
The ‘tyranny’ position is valid but we only need to look at what happened in LA, New Orleans and VA Tech. The police will usually hide or run in the face of overwhelming danger and then idiotically call for gun control of law abiding citizens...

Is that guy Rush still on the air???? At least we are getting to the point where the race card is becoming a meaningless card.
I think it had more to do with his being a rapper than being black. Still as a grown man, I would be partially offended if someone told they were impressed I knew words.
Who is one of Rush's most successful replacements? Walter Williams. Racist. Right. The race card is about at the end of its game.
I stopped listening to Rush in the early 90's when he said let the press investigate what was going on with that administration. He caved to the republican establishment. If people are thinking he's a voice leading this Country out of our problems, we are in trouble.
After a bit of reflection about Ice-T's comment, we have to start bridging the gap with those we have common concerns. Politicians are doing divide and conquer to coalesce power.
