Our cat Leopold had to be put to sleep. He had a severe bladder problem that couldn't be taken care of. It's a major problem for male cats.
Does anyone here have any ideas on how to cope with such a loss? I'm so heartbroken.
First I am sorry for your loss. Now a question. Why couldn't it be taken care of? I have had severe bladder infections where I don't know it until my urine is full of blood and then it hurts. I go to the doctor and they give me antibiotic to clear it up. Why couldn't they do that with your cat?

I posted memorials for several pets that I lost. It is tough to lose a good friend, but it will get better.
Most of us have been there and it sucks big time, but what can you do? Like us, our animals wear out...some too early. I give my pets lots of attention every day and hope that there are many more days to come.

I justify it by telling myself it’s all part of being a pet owner. It helps with the guilt.
When someone acquires a pet they have to realize that the chances are that that someone will outlive the pet.
Leo was a Manx who didn’t have a tail,just a stump.
He’d hop when he ran,LOL.
He was closer to my sister and he blew hot and cold,like many cats do.
We had to put two dogs down in the past six months, they were both elderly, but the second was a surprise. I cannot even look at her picture without crying. ('course she died only a month ago) I took out all their stuff--beds, dishes, collars, toys, etc. and put them away. Looking at the items was worse + our last dog was having issues with the items still being around. We also moved furniture around, too.
Everyone deals differently with grief. Hope you find what's best for you. Just do NOT let anyone allow you to deny that you are experiencing full grief-- a grief no less than losing a family member. <>
“Fixing” a male cat is the sure way to your experience. We lost two when I was growing up. Get some pointers on a better xiet to avoid the problem next time.

Anytime I have lost a kitty, I tried to think about how that kitty’s
every day was made good with attention and catfood bites and talking
and explorations up trees and onto the roof. That helps me some.
It never completely goes away, but remember the joy he brought you and that you did the right thing when he was in pain.
Give it a little time and rescue another kitty to love.

Yes, Manx have back legs which are a bit longer than their front legs, which gives them the hoppity gait.
I’m so sorry. Our little friends have such an impact beyond their size.

Losing a pet you love is a traumatic experience. I’ll say a prayer for you and your cat. But the best thing- your cat is in a better place and very happy. God loves every one of his beautiful creatures and he has a home for them after their time on earth is over. Your cat is in heaven now. He’s happy and safe for all eternity.

His belly was almost touching the floor because he ate a lot.
