Olympics Opening-Ceremonies Review: Hats Off, Danny Boy
Daily Beast ^ | July 29, 2012 | Simon Schama

“Congratulations to Danny Boyle,” said Bob Costas at the end of the Olympics’ opening ceremonies Friday night, swiftly adding, lest he sound even a smidge Mittish, “Congratulations to the British people, too ... They did it right.”

........................................................

It’s history as written by the Social Democrat Fabian Society on which we drank deep when I was at school in the ’50s and ’60s, authored by Beatrice and Sidney Webb, G.D.H. Cole, R.H. Tawney, and the socialist romantic E.P Thompson, a history at once fiery and brotherly, full of laments for the dispossessed and uprooted but clear-eyed about the inevitability of the industrial age and the shameless rapacity of its plutocracy. Hey, anyone want to argue with that?

At least a honest leftie owns up to the fact that the Opening Ceremony was a leftist version of Leni Riefenstahl.

little background; i trained for the Olympics for 10 years (track & field)...i’ve been to the Olympics four times (’84/LA, ‘88/Calgary, ‘96/Atlanta, ‘02/SLC)...i am an avid Olympic watcher/fan....i was excited for the opening ceremonies Friday night- 20 minutes into the “event” i was board...

the fact they had “political activists” and people like UN president bim-boom-sam (or whatever his name is) carry in the Olympic flag and basically all but dismissed great English Olympic heros like Daley Thompson, one of only two men to win consecutive gold medals in the decathlon (yes- i know they gave him all of 30-seconds of air time) says it all for me...

What a joke. Oh and by the way. Nobody knows who Paul McCartney is anymore.

a leftist version of Leni Riefenstahl

Hate to be about minutia, but I no longer accept the National Socialists as representing "the Right," even the Prussian Right. Though, I suppose this present-day, popular and high-and-bloody mighty version (Fascism 2.0), the pig-iron fist in a velvet glove kind pushed by monster contrarians like Geo. Bernard Shaw and John Dewey, could be defined as left of Nazi Germany.

Nobody knows who Paul McCartney is anymore.

...or cares. I mean, really, who needs to see "Hey Jude" sung again?

Rush reported in what he felt the opening ceremony was and feel it was nothing more than a liberal propaganda. Liberalism is nothing more than communism.

The Democratic party are so closely lined to communism that I can see no difference.
